    The Oil Township High School Class of 1947 had their 65th reunion July 28 at Bill & Dave’s Smokin’ Pit in Tell City.

  • Keaton Carter Nix

    Josh and Katie Nix of Evansville announce the birth of their son, Keaton Carter Nix, Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Deaconess Women’s Hospital in Evansville.
    The infant weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Mrs. Nix is the former Katie Patton. Keaton has one brother, Wyatt Caleb Nix, 5.
    Grandparents are Ray and Paula Patton of Tell City and David and Delsie Nix of Cannelton. Great-grandparents are Linda Peter, Ray Patton, Sudie Nix and the late Paul Peter, Liz Patton, Raymond Nix and Herman and Elsie Jordon.

  • PC teams place second

    CLARKSVILLE—Alex Newton and Bryce Lain placed third to lead Perry Central to second place in a hokum karem boys cross country meet Tuesday.
    In this format two runners are paired together and each alternate running a mile for a total of six miles. The scores of a team’s top three pairs form the team score.
    Floyd Central won the 11-team meet with 27 points. Perry Central scored 32.

  • Tell City 0-2-1 in tourney

    EVANSVILLE—Tell City scored three goals in three games as it went 0-2-1 in Bosse’s boys soccer tourney last weekend.
    Tell City tied Heritage Christian of Madisonville 2-2 Saturday as Matthew Cole and Casey May scored goals for the Marksmen.
    May is usually the Marksmen’s goalie but Coach Don Foerster pulled him out to center midfielder for part of that game.
    Freshman Reed Goffinet played goalie then. “He’ll probably be one of our goalies next year,” said Foerster.

  • Commodores conquer Corydon

    CORYDON—Hannah Harpenau made 19 kills to lead Perry Central’s strong spiking attack in a 25-17, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19 volleyball win over Corydon Tuesday.
    Ashley Gengelbach and Sydney Harpenau each added 10 kills. Setter Grace James made six and even 5-foot-2 Brittany Parker made two.
    James had 33 assists.
    Gengelbach and James each made two blocks.
    The Commodores also had strong back-row play, as Parker made 16 digs, Jennifer Kemp 12, Gengelbach nine, and Harpenau eight.

  • Tell City digs past Memorial

    EVANSVILLE—McKenzie Hayes made 27 kills and four blocks and had eight assists as Tell City beat Evansville Memorial 25-21, 25-20, 28-26 in volleyball Tuesday.
    Logan Flannagan added five kills and Charissa Lahee had 22 assists.
    “We played great defense and had great passing,” said Tell City Coach Dalonda Hayes. “When we pass the ball well to our setters, we’ve got hitters who should be able to put it down.”
    The match featured several long volleys, with Tell City making several digs when the ball was close to the floor.
