  • Easter fun
  • Children’s book week story times released

    PERRY COUNTY – Children, birth through sixth grade, and their parents are invited to participate in the observance of Children’s Book Week at the Perry County Public Library branches May 13 through May 16.
    The staff and some community volunteers will share stories with children and refreshments will be served during the story times. Free new or gently used books, color-changing pencils and other items will be given away. Children ages birth to 6 years old are welcome.
    Parents can register for one of the following story times:

  • Post National American Miss Indiana finalist

    PERRY COUNTY – Jillian Grace Post, the 4-year-old daughter of Holly Bond, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Indiana Pageant set for July 4 through July 7 at the Marriott Hotel in Indianapolis.

    The National American Miss pageants are held for girls 4 to 18 years of age and have five different age divisions. Post will participate in the 4 to 6 year olds Princess age division, along with other finalists from across Indiana.

    Shirley and Doyle Trenary are looking for the community’s help. Recently, the couple found several photos among the belongings of Slyvia Blum, Doyle’s aunt, who was formerly of Tell City. Blum was a previous owner of the bowling alley with her husband, Ed. The pictures, seen above, are from the 1930s or around that time and have very little to no information written on the back.

  • Current version of GED test to expire in 2013

    PERRY COUNTY – The GED Testing Service would like to inform test-takers who need to finish the GED test by the end of 2013 some critical facts. The current version of the test – the 2002 Series GED Test – will expire at the end of 2013, along with incomplete test scores.

    Annual Good Friday bake sale
    TELL CITY – The United Pentecostal Church will hold its annual bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in front of Wal-Mart in Tell City.
    Pies, cakes, cupcakes, cookies, bunny cakes, fudge, peanut butter balls, hard boiled colored eggs will be among the items for sale.

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Church of Christ would like to invite the community to come to its annual Easter sunrise service at 6 a.m.

    Chestnut Grove to host egg hunt Saturday
    TELL CITY – The Chestnut Grove Church welcomes the public to an Easter-egg hunt Saturday on the church grounds.
    The hunt will be held from noon to 1 p.m. and everyone is welcome to attend.

    Legion egg hunt in Cannelton Saturday
    CANNELTON – The Cannelton American Legion Post 142 and its auxiliary unit will sponsor their annual Easter-egg hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cannelton Legion Field.
