  • Cannelton students spruce up grounds

    Cannelton elementary students Noah Morrow, Isaac Corley, Samantha Clair and Cassie Bishop spruce up their school grounds. Perry County Community Foundation’s Learning to Give program endorses giving back to the community. All students in preschool through fifth grade helped with the project. Plants and mulch were purchased through the grant.

  • Story Mania at the Tell City-Perry County Public Library

    TELL CITY – On April 19, the Tell City-Perry County Public Library Young Adult Department hosted its second Story Mania Read-Aloud featuring the winners of the Story Mania short story writing contest.

    Guidelines were taken to all area junior and senior high schools at the beginning of January and teens in seventh through 12th grades were invited to write short stories for the contest.

  • Legion gives park new flag pole to display

    Tell City American Legion Post 213 donated a new flag pole to be placed in Sunset Park in Tell City. The pole was raised April 4. Mulzers Crushed Stone donated the concrete needed to secure the pole and the Tell City Street Department donated time and labor to hoist the pole with the American Flag.

  • Annual Charlie Tuggle Poker Run to kick off Saturday

    TELL CITY – The fourth annual Charlie Tuggle Poker Run is set for Saturday, with Braunie’s Bar in Tell City hosting the event.
    All bikes are due out by 11 a.m. and due in by 4:30 p.m. All vehicles are welcome.
    Entry is $10 per hand or $15 per double. There will be door prizes, half pot and food. All proceeds will go to Schreiber Family Charities and Shriners Hospital for Children.

    TELL CITY – The Tell City-Perry County Public Library is celebrating National Children’s Book Week, Monday through Saturday, May 7. National Children’s Book Week is a special opportunity for libraries all across the country to promote the joy of reading to kids.

  • Cannelton church to host annual homecoming May 7, 8

    CANNELTON – Freewill Baptist Church, 117 Second St., Cannelton will have its 43rd annual homecoming weekend, Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8.

    Singing will be the The Epley Family from Mount Pleasant, Iowa and the Pearly Gateman Quartet Reunion.
    Singing will begin Saturday night at 7 p.m. Sunday school will be dismissed and Sunday services will begin at 10 a.m. with The Epley Family and the Pearly Gateman Quartet.
    Following morning worship, there will be a carry-in basket lunch served in the fellowship hall.

    Sidney Marie Bennett
    Jeremy and Laura Bennett of Owensboro, Ky., an-nounce the birth of their daughter, Sidney Marie Bennett, Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at Owensboro Medical Health System.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and was 21 inches long.
    Mrs. Bennett is the former Laura Kaufman.
    Grandparents are Darrel and Cindy Kaufman of Tell City and Steve and Julie Bennett of Tell City.
