    McEntarfer graduates medical school
    ANGOLA – Dr. Ross McEntarfer of Angola graduated with highest honors from Indiana University School of Medicine in May and accepted a residency in orthopedic surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover, New Hampshire.
    McEntarfer received his bachelor’s degree from DePaw University in Greencastle. He is a 2003 graduate of Tell City High School.

    United Pentecostal Christmas play Friday
    BRISTOW – The United Pentecostal Church will present a Christmas play, “Christmas Around the World,” at 6 p.m. Friday at the church.
    Everyone is welcome to attend. The church is located at 20843 State Road 145 in Bristow.

  • Perry Central to host financial-aid workshop

    LEOPOLD – Perry Central High School will host a financial-aid workshop at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 18 in the high-school library.
    The meeting is for seniors and their parents. Tracy Adams, a financial-aid adviser at the University of Southern Indiana, will ex-plain the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid process, provide tips and answer questions about applying for financial help from any college.

  • Singing rhymes

    South Perry Head Start Classroom 1 enjoyed learning about nursery rhymes during November. The children learned the rhyme Humpty Dumpty and were able to practice rhyming words. Pictured here is Keira Woodrun singing the nursery rhyme into her microphone.

  • Birth announcements, Dec. 22

    Zander Timothy Luecke
    Tim and Ashley Luecke of Evanston announce the birth of their son, Zander Timothy Luecke, Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.
    The infant weighed 8 pounds and was 201⁄2 inches long.
    Mrs. Luecke is the former Ashley Dale Evrard. Zander has two older siblings, Brendon, 7, and Evan, 6.
    Grandparents are Paul and Mary Luecke of Evanston, Gary and Rita Smith of Tell City and Dale and Magie Evrard of Shawnee, Ohio.

  • Lynch – Harpenau

    Stephanie Lynch and Ben Harpenau were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Albany.

    The bride is the daughter of Delbert and Cynthia Lynch of New Albany and the granddaughter of John and Judy Jacobi of Floyds Knobs.
    Mr. Harpenau is the son of Susan Harpenau of Tell City and Rick Harpenau of Santa Claus and the grandson of Bob and Janice Harpenau of Troy.

  • Commodores win battle of unbeatens to take JV tourney

    REO—Dillon Hubert had 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists as Perry Central beat South Spencer 61-44 to win a JV boys basketball tourney Saturday.

  • Tell City girls third at Jasper

    JASPER—Tell City won the 200-yard medley relay and finished third in overall team scores in a seven-team girls swimming invitational Satur-day.
    Host Jasper won with 371 points. Tell City scored 254, just seven behind second-place Terre Haute North.
    The Marksmen won the first event, with Jessica Ballman, Amanda Wagner, Bailey Malone and Charissa Lahee taking the 200 medley relay in 1:59.55.
    Wagner placed second in the 200 individual medley in 2:25.40 and in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.30.

  • Tell City goes 2-7 in tourney

    EVANSVILLE—Justin Alvarez and Blake Alvey each went 7-2 to lead Tell City to a 2-7 record in Harrison’s 10-team, round-robin wrestling tourney Friday and Saturday.
    Tell City beat Forest Park 48-21 and Harrison 57-23 but lost to South Spencer 39-36, Heritage Hills 57-21, Reitz 72-12, Union County 55-18, Evansville Memorial 65-9, and Southridge 42-21.
