    Open house for Edgar Whitcomb

    TELL CITY – The friends of Edgar Whitcomb will have an open house for the former governor from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Tell City Depot on Seventh Street.

  • Hoosier Girls State representative visits annual session

    PERRY COUNTY – Hillary Hubert, daughter of Chris and Lora Hubert of Tell City, was chosen by Tell City American Legion Unit 213 to attend the 72nd annual session of Hoosier Girls State, June 23 through June 28 on the campus of Trine University in Angola.

    Hubert, a junior at Perry Central High School, joined approximately 612 other young women for this government program designed to educate the leaders of tomorrow in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of citizenship.

  • Lincoln Trail guild’s “quilt show and so much more”

    TELL CITY – Have you always wanted to learn to quilt? 
    You could get that opportunity this summer at the annual quilt show sponsored by the Lincoln Trail Quilt Guild.
    The show will be Aug. 9 and 10 at the Evangelical Church of Christ in Tell City. At the show, you can admire quilts of all sizes and inquire about quilting classes from the ladies of the quilt guild. If enough interest is shown, a day class will be held later in the fall.
    The quilt show will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 9 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 10.

  • Perry Central band meeting, picnic July 31

    LEOPOLD – The Perry Central Marching Band will host a mandatory meeting and picnic Wednesday.
    The picnic will immediately follow band camp at 4 p.m. that day. Hot dogs and drinks will be provided.  Those attending may take a side dish or snacks. The mandatory meeting will start at 4:30 p.m.
    The group will discuss band camp fees and concessions, meet the band director, learn about the boosters and discuss the calendar for the year.  
    There will be a drawing for prizes. Winners must be present to claim their prize.

  • Open house for Rose Stiles Saturday

    TELL CITY – An open house to celebrate the 90th birthday of Rose Stiles will be from 1:30 to 4:30 pm. Saturday at the Perry County Coon Club.
    Everyone is invited to attend and help her celebrate with family and friends. She has requested no gifts.

  • Benefit for Erin Owen Friday

    TELL CITY – A benefit for cancer patient Erin Owen will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Tell City Moose Lodge.
    Live music will be provided by Jeremy Luecke and Matt Schultz. T-shirts and bracelets will be sold. The event will include a live auction of items in-cluding two rounds of golf with a cart at Ben Hawes Golf Course, four rounds of golf at the Summit, two $25 gift cards to Golf Plus, several gift baskets and much more. The auction will begin at 6:30 p.m.

  • Benefit auction, dance for Larry Taylor Sept. 14

    TELL CITY – The friends and family of Larry Taylor will host a benefit auction and dance to help raise funds for medical bills and expenses.
    The event will be from 6 to 11 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Tell City American Legion Post on Indiana 66 in Tell City. Admission will be $15 per person or $25 per couple.
    There will be live music by “Good Ole Boys,” food and a cash bar.
    Cash donations may be made at Fifth Third Bank in Tell City to the “Benefit of Larry Taylor” account.
    Taylor has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

  • Jax Donald Etienne

    Josh and Kristi Etienne of Leopold announce the birth of their son, Jax Donald Etienne, Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Deaconess Women’s Hospital.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 193/4 inches long.
    Mrs. Etienne is the former Kristi Katterhenry. Jax has one older sister, Jaylie Bell, 31/2.
    Grandparents are Debbie Katterhenry of Tell City, Rebecca Etienne of Leopold and the late Gary Katterhenry and Donald Etienne.
    Great-grandparents are Alvada Laflin, Delores Neihaus, Martha Sue Miller and Rosemary Etienne.

  • Lilian June Hay

    Kevin and Kathryn Hay of Cross Plains, Tenn., announce the birth of their daughter, Lilian June Hay, Monday, June 17, 2013, at Hendersonville Medical Center in Hendersonville, Tenn.
    The infant weighed 6 pounds and 13 ounces.
    Mrs. Hay is the former Kathryn Knox. Lilian has one older sibling, Alivia, 22 months.
    Grandparents are Bruce and Susie Knox of Tell City and Bill and Susie Hay of Neoga, Ill.
    Great-grandparents are Mrs. Charles Hay of Galva, Ill., and the late Orville and Clarice June Hale.
