  • Marksmen fall to Vincennes Lincoln

    VINCENNES—Brandon Goodwin pitched a five-hitter as Vincennes Lincoln defeated Tell City 11-5 in baseball Saturday.
    Goodwin struck out six and did not allow an earned run.
    Tell City led 2-1 going into the bottom of the third inning, but the Alices scored four runs that inning and five the next to take control.
    Jordan Heck pitched into the fourth inning for Tell City and took the loss.

  • Tecumseh shuts out Bulldogs

    LYNNVILLE—Cannelton had better success hitting against Tiffany Summers this time but still lost to Tecumseh 11-0 in the first round of the Class A girls softball sectional Tuesday.

  • Tell City wins county tourney

    TELL CITY—Logan Bolin shot a 3-over-par 35 for medalist honors as Tell City won the first Perry County boys golf tourney Tuesday.

    BRETZVILLE—Mater Dei pounded out 16 hits to beat Perry Central 9-1 in the first round of the Class 2A girls softball sectional Tuesday.

  • Flannagan 300 hurdles champ in girls regional

    EVANSVILLE—Tell City freshman Logan Flannagan won the 300-meter low hurdles in the girls track regional Tuesday.

  • Fiesta Grande ribbon-cutting scheduled for Friday

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Chamber of Commerce will conduct a ribbon-cutting for Fiesta Grande at 11 a.m. Friday to celebrate completion of a new outdoor dining area.

    Fiesta Grande is located at 27 Indiana 66 in Tell City and is open for lunch through dinner daily.

    It also operates the Borderline Cantina that adjoins the restaurant.

    The public is invited to attend and celebrate with Fiesta Grande. For more information, call the restaurant at 547-7110 or the Perry County Chamber of Commerce at 547-2385.

  • Two hurt when motorcycle hits deer

    PERRY COUNTY – An Indianapolis man and his passenger were injured at approximately 9:35 p.m. Sunday when the motorcycle they were riding hit a deer.

    State police reported Craig E. Marvel, 46, Indianapolis was traveling east on Parks Road near Magnet Valley Road on his 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle when a deer entered the roadway. Marvel did not have time to react and hit the deer.

  • Blay headlining Friday Blue Heron event

    ROCKY POINT – Blue Heron Vineyard will host its annual summer concert series beginning Friday at Blue Heron Farm. The farm is located at 7757 Indiana 66 east of Rocky Point.

    Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and guests are invited to come early, peruse the grounds and drink wine. Visitors can also tour the nearly Celtic cross on the winery grounds.

    Concert guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets. All performances begin at 6 p.m.

  • Joint service planned for Sunday in City Hall Park

    Veterans groups will come together around noon Sunday for a joint Memorial Day service in City Hall Park. The annual tribute to men and women who gave their lives in defense of our nation will follow visits to local cemeteries by American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars members.

    Cannelton American Legion members will visit several cemeteries Monday and will conclude their tributes with ceremonies in Cannelton’s Gazebo Park at 11:55 a.m. and in Hargis Hafele Park at 12:05 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend local tributes to veterans this weekend.
