  • Perry County native dies from injuries after collision with semi

    Gentryville – A Perry County native died Thanksgiving Day from injuries he sustained that morning in a collision with a tractor-trailer near Gentryville.

    The Indiana State Police Post in Jasper received a report of a two-vehicle crash with injury at Indiana 162 east of U.S. 231 in Spencer County.

  • St. Nick plans return visit for Leopold parade

    LEOPOLD – The annual Christmas parade in Leopold is set for 1 p.m. Sunday with Santa Claus making a return visit for the event. Lineup gets under way at 12:30 p.m. in the three staging areas. Floats will line up at Perry Central School with tractors and horse units assembling at the Leopold Conservation Club. Military entries and Perry Central’s Marching Commodores will gather on the edge of town.

  • Drama club to host talent show

    TELL CITY – The Tell City High School Drama Club and JAG Career Association will sponsor a “You Got Talent?” show.
    The event will take place Friday at the Tell City Junior-Senior High School auditorium and is for junior and senior-high students.
    Tickets are $3 at the door.

    Chestnut Grove to host Jack Compton
    TELL CITY – Chestnut Grove Church in Tell City will host Evangelist Jack Compton (Gifts of the Spirit) of Riley, Miss.
    The community is invited to attend any of the four dates Compton will speak, Dec. 9, 10 and 11 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 12 at 6 p.m.

  • Cannelton school finances improve despite state cuts

    CANNELTON – Al Chapman isn’t hearing as much negative news about state funding for schools as he had a year before, he said Nov. 18, but he added, “I won’t be comfortable until I see the budget come out.”

    He has heard funding will be returned to a previous level, but “I haven’t heard anybody say if that’s the original number before … or after (recent) cuts,” he told school-board members at a regular meeting.
