CANNELTON - The 63rd annual Parent-Teacher Organization Cannelton Fall Fest begins at 6 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Cannelton Community Center.

Admission is 25 cents if not in costume and an expanded concession stand will be available for families who would like to eat dinner at the event. Events include door prizes, games, raffle, cake walk and masquerade parade. Three winners will be named in four divisions, ages 5 and younger, ages 6 to 8, ages 9 to 11 and ages 12 and older.

CANNELTON - The Cannelton Heritage Festival will be held Saturday on Washington Street in Cannelton. A full schedule of activities is planned with food and vendor booths opening at 10 a.m.

Several local musicians will perform throughout the day, featuring folk, blues, contemporary and original music.

Children's activities include pumpkin painting, games and face painting.

The Perry County Courthouse Museum, along with local churches, businesses and schools, will be open for tours. Guided walking historic and haunted-history tours will also be offered.

Incumbent cites experience, other claims technological knowledge

TELL CITY - The incumbent county surveyor and his challenger in the November election explained at a public forum Sept. 25 why voters should select them when completing their ballots. Democrat Glenn M. Etienne, 17435 S. Leopold Circle Road, Leopold, is challenging incumbent Republican Harold E. Lynch, 12224 North Street, St. Croix.

Employees get $728 salary increase for 2009

TELL CITY - A $4 million budget adopted Sept. 25 by the Tell City Common Council will cover modest raises next year for city employees. The city's budget, which received no comments from the public during a hearing earlier in the month, forms the city's spending plan for next year and project's total general-fund expenditures of $3.2 million.

Within the various accounts that fall under general fund, the mayor's office is budgeted for nearly $60,000 to cover wages, supplies and other services.
