  • Nine John Jones Auto Group employees earn GM awards

    SALEM – Nine individuals from John Jones Auto Group have earned the distinction of excellence in the GM Mark of Excellence Program.

    To become a Mark of Excellence recipient, a person must exemplify a high degree of dedication toward exceeding Customer Satisfaction expectations and meeting training requirements, while also increasing retail sales, labor and parts sales.

  • Grandview Aluminum to be featured in televised promotion

    GRANDVIEW – Grandview Aluminum Products Inc. has been asked to participate in filming a set of televised promotional clips that will be aired May 9 through May 12 on the Golf Channel during The Players Championship Sawgrass tournament.

    The casting foundry has been manufacturing aluminum and bronze dedication and memorial plaques since 1965. Over the last several years, the Grandview-based foundry has produced the tournament-winner plaques that adorn the Circle of Champions wall located at Sawgrass.

    In July 2012, Cub Scout Pack 192 took a trip to Marengo Cave.

  • Oakwood volunteers are stars

    Oakwood Health Campus hosted a volunteer-recognition event to honor those who give their time and talents to others in the community. The theme for this year was the “Hollywood Walk Of Fame…Our Volunteers Are Stars.”

  • Military notes: Davis completes basic training

    COLUMBIA, S.C. – Army Pvt. Julie E. Davis has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
    During the nine weeks of training, Davis studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field-training exercises.

  • Knights Tootsie Roll drive

    TELL CITY – Tell City Knights of Columbus Council 1172 will accept donations for its Tootsie Roll drive for the mentally challenged citizens of Perry County May 31 and June 1.
    Bob Hackle and Terry Schaefer are co-chairing the event and encourage the public to donate at one of four locations: Tell City Wal-Mart, McDonald’s, Noble’s IGA, Fifth Third and Cash Saver. All money raised stays in Perry County.

  • We the Youth accepting applications for 2013-14

    PERRY COUNTY – We The Youth of Perry County is currently taking applications for the 2013-14 program year. We The Youth of Perry County is a leadership program for students who will be freshman for the upcoming school year. 
    The program includes a variety of activities including a kickoff retreat and monthly meetings. The meetings are usually conducted from 6 to 8:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month. Some of this year’s topics will include government, community involvement, Perry County history, a mock court and values and decisions.

  • Case Alvin Toothman

    Nathan and Melissa Toothman of Mount Pleasant an-nounce the birth of their son, Case Alvin Toothman, Friday, April 19, 2013, at St. Mary’s in Evansville.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Mrs. Toothman is the former Melissa Schatz. Case has one older brother, Parker, 1.
    Grandparents are Mark and Marja Schatz of Siberia and Danny and Patty Toothman of Magnet.
    Great-grandparents are Marilynn Sonderman and Bob and Janell Pfeifer.

  • Avery Grace Martin

    Jason and Susan Martin of Ferdinand announce the birth of their daughter, Avery Grace Martin, Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 19 inches long.
    Mrs. Martin is the former Susan Keller. Avery has three older brothers, Eli and Owen, 6, and Isaac, 2.
    Grandparents are Joseph and Beverly Keller of Tell City, Mary Beth Martin of Haysville and Bill Martin of Ferron, Utah.
    Great-grandparents are Catherine Keller of Tell City and the late Otto Keller and Herman and Joyce Peters.
