  • Legion honoring Marine founding

    TELL CITY - In honor of the anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Marine Corps, Tell City American Legion Post 213 will host a visit by Medal of Honor recipient Donald Ballard Friday. Ballard will be at the post from noon to 3 p.m. to greet veterans and visitors.

    He will be the main speaker at a Corpsman Ball that evening in Jasper.

  • Perry Central fall fest Thursday

    LEOPOLD - Perry Central will have their annual fall fest from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the elementary gym. Costume judging begins at 6:15 p.m. Students and their families can go through a haunted house, play games, participate in a cake walk and look for goodies at the country store and concession stand.

    Booths and activities are sponsored by members of clubs and organizations at Perry Central.

    The Usborne book redemption and sale will be held as well as a free book giveaway for children birth through preschool.

  • TCHS coat drive

    TELL CITY - Tell City High School Student Council members are sponsoring a coat drive with the coats going to Hilgers Laundry and Cleaners to be cleaned before being distributed through church organizations.

    Coats will be collected in each hallway before school and community members can bring coats to the assistant principal's office Wednesday through Friday during school hours. Call 547-3131 with questions.

  • Cannelton Fall Fest Tuesday

    CANNELTON - The 63rd annual Parent-Teacher Organization Cannelton Fall Fest begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Cannelton Community Center.

    Admission is 25 cents if not in costume and an expanded concession stand will be available for families who would like to eat dinner at the event.

    Events include door prizes, games, raffle, cake walk and masquerade parade.

    Three winners will be named in four divisions, ages 5 and younger, ages 6 to 8, ages 9 to 11 and ages 12 and older.

  • City meetings at TCHS Nov. 3

    TELL CITY - The regular Nov. 3 meetings of the Tell City Board of Public Works and Safety and Tell City Council will be held in the Tell City High School Auditorium.

    School officials plan to offer city leaders an update on the school system. The city council appoints three of the school board's five members.

    The works board meeting begins at 6 p.m. with the council convening at 7.

    City leaders meet outside City Hall quarterly and have held previous meetings at the William Tell Senior Citizens Center and Tell City Fire Station.

  • PCMH Auxiliary bazaar Nov. 6

    TELL CITY - The Perry County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will hold its annual holiday bazaar and luncheon from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 6 at the hospital.

    The group will sell handmade gift items, baked goods and chances to win a clock. The gift shop will have specials on items also. Turkey dinners will be served in the cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

    Cost is $6 and take-out meals are available.

    Tickets for the dinner and raffle are available in the gift shop and from auxiliary members.

  • Oakwood still collecting coats

    TELL CITY - Oakwood Health Campus will participate in the annual Holiday Helpers Coat Drive.

    Anyone wishing to donate gently used children or adult coats may leave them at Oakwood Health Campus for Polly Story or Anna Hammack. Coats will be accepted in the business office. For more information call 547-2333.

  • Kiwanis pancake breakfast Nov. 1

    TELL CITY - The Kiwanis Club of Tell City will have its annual pancake breakfast Saturday in the Evangelical United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall in Tell City. Service is 7 to 11 a.m.

    The breakfast will also feature candidates running for Perry County and state offices.

    Tickets for the all-you-can-eat breakfast are $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and $3 for children 12 and younger.

    Tickets are available at Old National Bank, Fifth Third Bank, Ivy Tech Community College, Perry Central and Tell City high schools or from any Kiwanis member.
