  • Rome VFD annual hog roast Sunday

    ROME – The Rome Volunteer Fire Department will host a hog roast Sunday at the Rome Community Center.
    Church services will be held at 10:30 a.m. and a hog-roast meal will start at 11:30. Dinner will include pork, creek fries, green beans, slaw, bread and choice of tea, lemonade or coffee.
    A country store will also be open to visitors. Items being sold include baked goods, crafts, canned goods and more. Entertainment will be provided from noon to 4 p.m. by the Country Sunshine Band with Darrell Toomey and group of Owensboro, Ky.

  • Shoot for the Stars finale is Friday

    PERRY COUNTY – The finale for the “Shoot for the Stars” competition sponsored by the Tell City Regional Arts Association will take place Friday. The event will begin at 6 p.m. in City Hall Park. 

  • March Of Dimes walk Sept. 30

    TELL CITY – The March of Dimes Committee would like to invite everyone to the Perry-Spencer March for Babies.
    The event will be held Sept. 30 at Old National Bank. Team check-in is at 2 p.m. and the walk will begin at 3 p.m. Food and refreshments will be served after the walk.

    TELL CITY – The city of Tell City’s water tower near Troy will soon belong to that community. 

  • Cooper Joseph Evrard

    Adam and Stevi Evrard of Tell City announce the birth of their son, Cooper Joseph Evrard, Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Owensboro Medical Health System in Owensboro, Ky.
    The infant weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Mrs. Evrard is the former Stevi Wheatley. Cooper has one older brother, Owen Matthew Evrard, 5.
    Grandparents are Jane Brumfield of Tell City, Gary Wheatley of Leopold, Fred and Rebecca Evrard Jr. of Tell City and Jeff and Bev York of Troy.

  • Sale of junior high may net district $98,000

    TELL CITY – Saturday’s auction at the former Tell City Junior High School drew hundreds of bidders and the bargains they found could generate close to $100,000 for the Tell City-Troy Township School District. 

    Dixon & Dixon Auctioneers conducted the sale of the building and contents. Randy Cole of Tell City purchased the real estate, including the 60,000-square-foot facility, for $85,500. 

  • Kathryn Lynn Wagner

    Jeremy and Ashley Wagner of Tell City announce the birth of their daughter, Kathryn Lynn Wagner, Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.
    The infant weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce and was 20 inches long.
    Mrs. Wagner is the former Ashley Moore. Kathryn has one older brother, Jacob Wagner, 8.
    Grandparents are Sherry Moore of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Keith and Margie Wagner and John and Jenny Brunner, all of Tell City.
    Great-grandparents are Mildred Beck, Thelma Wagner and Elizabeth Simpson.
