  • Marching Marksmen season kicks off June 24

    TELL CITY – A mandatory meeting for all members of the 2013 Tell City High School Marching Marksmen, including parents and guardians, is set for 6 p.m. June 24 in the school cafeteria.

    The calendar and other information will be shared. Signups for T-shirts, yard signs and car window decals will also be available. Sign-up for booster activities will also be held.

  • Local Santa documentary to air Tuesday on PBS

    TELL CITY – The locally produced documentary, “They Wore the Red Suit – the Director’s Cut,” will air 7 p.m. Tuesday on WNIN Evansville Channel 9 during their summer pledge-drive campaign.

    Director Larry Peter of Power Plant Productions in Tell City thinks this is the perfect way to introduce the film to the region where the Christmas industry had its origins.

  • Summer school lunch program begins today

    TELL CITY – Tell City-Troy Township School Corp. will begin its summer free lunch program today at Tell City Junior-Senior High School.

    All children 18 years of age or younger can eat lunch for free from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday until Aug. 2 at the high school.

    The cafeteria will be closed the week of July 1-5. Two adults may accompany a child and eat for $2 each.

  • Tell City Depot dedication is Friday

    An official dedication ceremony for the Tell City Depot is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday. Lt. Gov. Sue Ellsperman will attend and light refreshments will be served after the event. The public is encouraged to attend.

    The depot was constructed with a mix of proceeds from a city Neighborhood Stabilization Program grant, forgivable loan and a separate grant. It was constructed without city tax funds and has been leased to the Perry County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

  • Animals, raffle to be at Tractor Supply Saturday

    TELL CITY – Animals for kids of all ages to pet and a raffle for grownups to win will be attractions at Tell City’s Tractor Supply store from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday.

    Jo Sodrel of Horse Rescue South invites everyone to visit horses from that agency and miniature donkeys from the C&R Petting Zoo of Perry County.

    Two $50 prizes will be offered in a raffle. Tickets will cost $1 each or six for $5.

  • Tell City’s spring cleanup begins today

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Board of Public Works and Safety has set today through Thursday as the dates for the 2013 spring cleanup. Rules are similar to past year’s events. Postcards were mailed recently and give the specific dos and don’ts.

  • Catholic Charities, LHDC become new sponsors of two United Way programs

    PERRY COUNTY – The United Way of Perry County announced last week the transfer of several of its programs to two other nonprofit agencies in Perry County.

    The Perry County Food Coalition will now be under the auspices of Catholic Charities and the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program will now be administered by Lincoln Hills Development Corp.

  • Cannelton sets fire-protection fees

    CANNELTON – Cannelton Board of Public Works and Safety members voted in a regular meeting May 13 to begin charging residents of Troy Township for fire-protection services the city provides outside its borders.
