  • Oakwood residents learn about Krispy Kreme

    Residents and staff visited Krispy Kreme Doughnut Shop in Evansville on a recent outing to observe the production of making their doughnut.

    They each received a free warm doughnut to sample. The group also had lunch out before returning to the campus. Pictured enjoying the day are residents Ralph Malone and Sis Ingle.

    PERRY COUNTY – Be-ginning this year, the La-fayette Spring Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution announce the group will honor a woman of the community. The criteria for the away is a woman in the community who ex-emplifies either all or merely one of the many areas the DAR supports.

  • Daughters of Isabella Scholarship available

    PERRY COUNTY – The Nativity Circle of the Daughters of Isabella will award a scholarship to a high-school graduate from any high school this year.
    The $500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduate of a child or grandchild of a member of the local circle.
    The criteria for the award is based on financial need, academic, extracurricular activities and community involvement.
    Applications will be available at the group’s April 2 meeting or by calling Mary Seibert at 547-4847. The deadline to submit them is April 29.

    Ryan and Dana Lutgring of Tell City announce the birth of their daughter, Ava Rachelle Lutgring, Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at the Women’s Hospital in Newburgh.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Mrs. Lutgring is the former Dana Brockman. Ava has one older brother, Zane, 2.
    Grandparents are Tom and Terri Brockman of Evanston and Eric and Kim Lutgring of St. Marks.
    Great-grandparents are Chester and Mary Mosby of Evanston, Leona Brockman of Tell City, JoAnn Lutgring of Tell City and Bennett and Lois Bryant of Magnet.

  • Sophie Mae Goffinet

    Grant and Mary Goffinet of Jasper announce the birth of their daughter, Sophie Mae Goffinet, Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Sophie has two older sisters, Lilly, 3, and Maggie, 2.
    Grandparents are Kevin and Bridget Goffinet of Bristow and Chris and Judy Sharp of Indianapolis.
    Great-grandparents are Frank and Martha Heeke of Evanston and Allen and Charlotte Goffinet of Tell City. Great-great-grandparents are Oda May Terry of Tell City and Anna Heeke of Tell City.

  • Stephens places 3rd in state

    INDIANAPOLIS—Mason Stephens of the Tell City Wrestling Club placed third in his weight class at the Indiana State Wrestling Association folkstyle state tourney Sunday.

    Stephens went 5-1 with three pins in the schoolboy 136-pound division.
    Joe Craig did not place but went 2-2 with one pin in schoolboy 112.

    CANNELTON—A near capacity crowd estimated at 1,000 turned out to watch a full card of Indiana Fighting Championship kick boxing and mixed martial arts Saturday.
