  • Ladies group enjoys New York City trip

    NEW YORK – Six women enjoyed a bus trip to New York City Nov. 29 through Dec. 4 with a group from Hancock Christian Church.

    JoAnn Smith of Tell City, Mary Kent of Brazil, Heather Pinkston of St. Louis, Susan Smith of Corydon, Sandy Pinkston of LaHarpe, Ill., and Ann Sullivan of Sarasota, Fla., all made the trip. The group enjoyed seeing several points of interest, including Central Park, Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, Times Square, Chinatown and Little Italy.

  • St. Paul scrapbooking crop Jan. 26

    TELL CITY – The St. Paul’s Scrapbooking Group will sponsor the second annual scrapbooking, card-making and general crafting crop “Mission Possible” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 26 at the parish hall.
    Cost is $25 per person and will include snacks, lunch, drinks, goodie bags and prizes. Friends registering together may enter the crop for only $45. All proceeds will go to support the St. Paul Catholic Church’s 2013 youth mission trip to Kenosha, Wis.

  • Tri Kappa offers scholarship opportunities

    PERRY COUNTY – The state organization of Tri Kappa will award a variety of scholarships to college students throughout Indiana in the spring.  Each state scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1,000.
    Tri Kappa has provided scholarship awards since 1914, acknowledging students on the local, province and state levels.
    Chapters, provinces and the state organization combined currently give nearly $500,000 annually honoring academic achievement.

  • UPDATE: Accident victims' names released

    TELL CITY – A 19-year-old Gatchel man was killed Saturday night in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Indiana 37 and Indiana 237 just north of Tell City.

  • Sunday Christmas services at House of Prayer

    TELL CITY - The House of Prayer Pentecostal Church, located on Indiana 237 in Tell City, will host its Christmas services beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday.
    The evening will include Christmas songs, poems and more. After services are concluded, a birthday party for Jesus will be held.

    PERRY COUNTY – Renate Warner, director of the Perry County Community Foundation, has announced that scholarship opportunities are available through the foundation’s community scholarship program and the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program.
