  • Learning about weather

    Children at the Lincoln Hills Development Corp. South Perry County Head Start Center enjoyed activities that centered around the theme of kites and weather in April.

    The students took a field trip to Vastwood Park in Hawesville, Ky., for a nature and weather walk. They examined the weather, the different types of clouds and how the weather affects nature.

    TELL CITY – A farmers market meeting will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Tell City Depot.
    A conventions and visitors bureau meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m.

  • Fundraising Boardstock kicks off Friday in St. Meinrad

    ST. MEINRAD – Boardstock, a two-day music fest, will be held Friday and Saturday at the St. Meinrad Community Center in honor of the life of Eric. W. Board.
    All proceeds from the event will be used to buy a gravestone for Board.

  • Bailey earns pageant honor

    Niccole Bailey, daughter of Joe and Kim Bailey of Tell City, was crowned with “The Pageantry Spirit” Award April 27, with Indiana Beauties Pageant Productions.

  • Film screening at Lincoln Boyhood set for June 1

    LINCOLN CITY – The film, “The Why in the Road,” will be shown at the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial at noon June 1.
    Sponsored by Preserving the Historic Road 2012, the hour-long film takes viewers on a journey down Indiana’s historic roads in an attempt to answer the question, “Why would anyone want to preserve a historic road?”
    A second showing of the film will be held at noon June 5. Both showings will be at the park’s Memorial Visitor Center.

  • Annual Southern Indiana Republican golf tournament June 25

    SANTA CLAUS – The Southern Indiana Republican Invitational Golf Tournament will be June 25 with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.
    The event will take place at the Chirstmas Lake Golf Course in Santa Claus. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit Perry, Spencer and Dubois County Republican Party organizations.

  • Piper Cathleen Rogers

    Jacob R. Rogers and Felicia M. Sinclair announce the birth of their daughter, Piper Cathleen Rogers, Friday, April 26, 2013, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 181/2 inches long.
    Piper had one older brother, the late Aden James Rogers.
    Grandparents are Mary Kaye Hale, Scott Sinclair and Catheryn Throgmorton, all of Tell City, and John Rogers of Huntingburg.
    Great-grandparents are Luther Hale and May Homes, both of Tell City, Charlotte Rogers of Washington and the late Maggie Hale.

  • Thorn – Tudor

    Denny and Sue Thorn of Cannelton announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Rachel Thorn, to Luke Tudor, son of Robert and Christine Tudor of Tell City.

    The bride-elect is a graduate of Tell City High School. She works as a relief aid with the Head Start program.
    Mr. Tudor is a graduate of Tell City High School and has a firefighter certification at Tell City Fire Department.

  • Cannelton High School 2013 graduation

    Cannelton High School’s graduation ceremony was held Saturday in the Cannelton Community Center. Twenty graduates took center stage to share memories, goodbyes and turn their tassels.

  • Two teams blast Cannelton

    CANNELTON—Cannelton gave up 36 runs in baseball losses to Shoals and Hancock County Friday.
    “We were not ready to play at all,” said Cannelton Coach Mike Garrett. “It’s not the way you want to end your season before the sectional, that’s for sure.”
    Shoals had 11 hits and drew 10 walks in a 14-4 win.
    Larry Holman went 2 for 3 with a home run to lead Cannelton. Tristan Simmons added a double.
