  • Local Knights earn international recognition

    TELL CITY – Knights of Columbus Council 1172 of Tell City is a Father McGivney Award Winner.

    Named after the organization’s founder, Father Michael J. McGivney, the award is given in recognition of outstanding membership recruitment and retention efforts during the 2009-10 fraternal year.

    The announcement was made by the Knights of Columbus International Headquarters located in New Haven, Conn. Ed Boudreas, district deputy, presented an engraved plaque to the council during a special ceremony Sept. 21.

  • Church News, Oct. 7

    Service time changing at Bristow Christian Church Sunday
    BRISTOW – Due to the annual Octoberfest Car Show Sunday, the service time for Bristow Christian Church will be changed to 9 a.m. instead of the usual 10 a.m.
    The regular 10 a.m. services will resume Oct. 17. Cathy Aders will be in attendance at that service with a carry-in dinner to follow.

  • Students will rally Oct. 15

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Junior-Senior High School Renaissance Class will host its second annual Academic Pep Rally Kickoff in the school auditorium beginning at 8:15 a.m. Oct. 15.  

  • Adding color to the show

    Tell City Marching Marksmen color-guard members practice their part of this year’s show Sept. 30 ahead of district competition Saturday, where they earned a gold rating and the right to advance to regional competition Oct. 16 at Evansville Central High School

  • Sitzman – Zarfos

    Kenny and Ramona Elder of Tell City and Mark Sitzman of Mariah Hill announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Rivaye Sitzman, to Justin Zarfos, son of Randal “Zeke” Zarfos of Oriole.
    The bride-elect is a 2006 graduate of Tell City High School and a 2007 graduate of Roger’s Hair Academy.
    She works as a hair stylist at “All About You” salon.
    Mr. Zarfos graduated from Perry Central High School in 2000 and from Ivy Tech State College in 2003.
    He is employed at Don’s Automotive and Machine.

  • LHDC receives stimulus grants

    TELL CITY – Lincoln Hills Development Corp. Executive Director Larry K. Kleeman announced that LHDC recently received continuation grants for its Head Start and Early Head Start programs funded last year through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

  • Voters must take photo ID to polls

    PERRY COUNTY – County Clerk Jean M. Schulthise reminds voters in all Perry County precincts that several changes to the election process in 2006 as a result of both federal and state election reform legislation are still applicable in 2010.

    Voters are required to present photo ID at the polls on Election Day, Nov. 2, before casting a ballot. The ID must meet the following criteria:

    1. Display the voter’s name, and the name must conform to the name on the voter registration record.

    2. Display the voter’s photo.

  • Nolan – Bockhold

    Sarah Nolan and Jeff Bockhold of Jeffersonville announce their engagement and approaching wedding.
    The bride-elect is the daughter of Steve of Dee Ann Nolan of Loogootee.
    She is a graduate of Loogootee High School and Indiana University Southeast.
    Mr. Bockhold is the son of Debbie LaGrange of Tell City and the late Jerry Bockhold.
    He is a graduate of Perry Central High School and the University of Southern Indiana.
