  • RSVP to host ice cream social May 18 at EUCC

    TELL CITY – In honor of Senior Corps Week, Lincoln Hills Development Corp. Retired and Senior Volunteer Program will host its annual ice-cream social from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18 at Evangelical Church of Christ, 802 10th Street in Tell City. The event will feature a guest speaker, food, bingo and prizes.
    All RSVP volunteers and volunteer station representatives are invited to attend, as well as anyone age 55 and older who would like to be an RSVP volunteer.
    Those who wish to attend are asked to register for the social by May 15.

  • ECA to host Bunkhouse Reunion Tour May 19

    EVANSTON – The Evanston Civic Association will hold a dine and dance, and Bunkhouse Reunion Tour featuring Clear Creek May 19 at the civic association.
    Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., a meal will be served at 6 p.m. and music will begin at 7. Meal tickets must be purchased in advance by contacting Matt Keller at (812) 529-8314 or Cheryl Southwood at 719-1809. Meal and dance tickets are $15. Dance-only tickets will be $10 at the door.
    Everyone is invited to attend.

    Caty Lynn Brahm and Michael Cooper of Ferdinand were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Saturday Oct. 15, 2011, at St. Meinrad Catholic Church in St. Meinrad.

    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Bishop of Santa Claus and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Brahm of Ferdinand.
    Mr. Cooper is the son of Mrs. Ophra Cooper and Dave Nixon of Santa Claus and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cooper of Birdseye.
    The Rev. Anthony Vinson OSB officiated the double-ring ceremony.

  • Michael and Cheryl Wollenmann

    Michael and Cheryl Wollenmann of Bristow celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary April 23, 2012.

    Mr. Wollenmann married the former Cheryl Blake, April 23, 1977, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.
    The couple has two daughters, Tracy Durcholz and her husband, Mark of Ferdinand and Amanda Wollenmann of Bristow. They also have two grandchildren, Landon and Claire.

  • Marksman girls outserve Boonville

    BOONVILLE—Tell City won all three singles matches and No. 1 doubles to beat Boonville 4-1 in girls tennis Thursday.
    In singles Rachel Woznicki beat Kendra Hart 6-0, 6-3 in No. 1, Addie Peter beat Amber Wade 6-4, 6-3 in No. 2, and Theresa Hantschel defeated Elaine Adkins 6-2, 6-1 in No. 3.
    Cassie Bryant and Kelsey Gowers beat Haley Baker and Ashley Johnson 6-4, 6-2 in No. 1 doubles.
    Boonville’s Maddy Brown and Marissa Rees beat Maria Rosenbachova and Megan Teague 6-3, 6-0 in No. 2 doubles.

  • Commodores pound Rebels

    ELIZABETH—Kosha Wetzel drove in five runs as Perry Central clubbed South Central 13-1 in girls softball Friday.
    Wetzel hit a single and a triple in four at-bats to lead the Commodores’ 11-hit attack.
    Ashley Guillaume went 3 for 3 with a double and Lexi Aders and Sydney Goffinet each added two hits. They each had one RBI.
    Miranda Claise pitched the first four innings for the win, striking out three and walking one.
    Guillaume pitched the last inning of the five-inning game, striking out two.

  • Brown helps PC slug Blackhawks

    LEOPOLD—Colt Brown hit an inside-the-park grand slam as Perry Central beat Springs Valley 8-7 in PLAC baseball Thursday.
    With the bases loaded in the fourth inning Brown hit a shot over the center fielder’s head and it rolled to the fence in left-center.
    The outfielders had trouble getting hold of the ball when they got to it and Brown, not the Commodores’ fastest runner, circled the bases.
    He also hit RBI singles in the first and third innings as he went 3 for 4 with six RBIs to lead the Commodores’ nine-hit attack.

  • Marksman girls crush Boonville

    BOONVILLE—Sarah Goffinet and Katlyn Braunecker each won two individual races and two relays as Tell City trounced Boonville 89-34 in girls track Thursday.
    Goffinet won two races she hadn’t run this season, the 400-meter dash in 1:08.52 and the 3200 in 13:22.90.
    She teamed with Hanna Goffinet, Addie Terry and Mariah Blake to win the 3200 relay in 11:12.
    Braunecker, Blake, Hanna Goffinet and Sarah Goffinet won the 1600 relay in 4:56.
    Braunecker won the 100 in 13.77 and the 200 in 28.94.

  • Marksman boys outrun Boonville

    BOONVILLE—Elliott Brown and Clint Waninger each won two individual events as Tell City defeated Boonville 68-60 in boys track Thursday.
    Brown won the 100-meter dash in 11.33 seconds and the 200 in 23.73.
    He teamed with Kegan Adams, Ryan Hackbarth and Brennan Malone to win the 400 relay in 45.95. Malone, recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered last fall, competed for the first time this season.
    Waninger won the shot put at 40 feet, 11⁄2 inches and the discus with a 119-foot-71⁄2 toss.
