  • Troy town board member jailed for battery

    TROY – Adam Hoffman, a member of Troy’s town council, was arrested Sunday, April 23, on a Class A misdemeanor charge of battery resulting in bodily injury.

    Hoffman allegedly was involved in an altercation that afternoon with an adult male family member at his home at 500 Main St. in Troy.

    He was taken to Perry County Detention Center by deputy Mark Poehlein before being released upon posting a bond of $1,500.

    The News contacted Hoffman Friday.

  • Seven charged in local ‘drug round-up’

    PERRY COUNTY – On April 19, the Tell City Police Department secured arrest warrants for several individuals on drug charges.

    The warrants were obtained after officers developed probable cause during an extensive drug investigation.

    The warrants were executed during a drug round-up with the Perry County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police. 

  • Police looking for alleged driver of car found crashed on Atlanta Road

    TELL CITY – Details were still sketchy Wednesday afternoon but police are still looking to question a man they said crashed a car on Atlanta Road Monday night and then fled on foot.

    Mark Ransom is sought by police and is believed to be the driver of the vehicle that triggered a police search for much of the night, officers said.

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Police Department announced the completion of the March 2017 dangerous and impaired driving enforcement campaign. During the 24-day enforcement period, 118 citations and warnings were written, and five arrests were made.

  • Weekend search lands Tell City man in jail on numerous drug charges

    TELL CITY – The weekend search of a residence resulted in a Tell City man being behind bars on numerous narcotics charges, state police reported.

  • Tell City Police Department kicks off March enforcement blitz

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Police Department has announced it will join efforts with over 250 Indiana state and local law enforcement agencies to increase education and enforcement around dangerous and impaired driving.

    From March 3-26, officers across the state will conduct high-visibility patrols  specifically designated to identify and intercept those driving aggressively and under the influence.

  • Two arrested last week on drug charges

    TELL CITY – On Feb. 14, officers with the Tell City Police Department arrested 37-year-old Christopher R. Salter of Tell City.

    Salter was wanted on an outstanding warrant issued through the Perry Circuit Court for the charge of intimidation with a deadly weapon. Officers located him hiding under the bed inside a residence at 730 17th St. in Tell City.

  • Three face methamphetamine dealing charges

    TELL CITY – Three Tell City residents face drug charges after a Tell City Police Department investigation into illegal drug trafficking led to their arrest last week.

    According to Tell City Police Department Detective Roger Smith, three separate  investigation wrapped up Thursday with the arrests of Nathaniel Gadson, 47, Timothy M. Schraner, 32, and Megan M. Schneider, 23.

  • Police talk man from bridge

    CANNELTON – Local police were able to talk an apparently suicidal man from the Lincoln Trail Bridge in Cannelton before dawn Sunday.

    At approximately 4:17 a.m., Tell City Central Dispatch received multiple 911 calls in reference to a male subject on the Lincoln Trail Bridge in Cannelton. Perry County Sheriff’s Deputy Daymion Marsh made initial contact with the subject and immediately established a rapport, maintaining conversation.  Negotiators from the Perry County Sheriff’s Department and the Tell City Police Department were summoned to the scene.
