  • Sheriff’s department website offers sex-offender mapping, alerts

    PERRY COUNTY – Perry County Sheriff Alan Malone reminds the public about a sex-offender mapping service that sends alerts to people so they know if they are living near offenders.

    In Perry County, there are approximately 40 sex offenders’ registered with the Perry County Sheriff’s Office.

  • Promotions announced for two TC officers

    TELL CITY – Two Tell City Police Department officers were promoted last week. Police Chief Derrick Lawalin appointed Detective Roger Smith to serve as lieutenant and Patrolman Jason Shadwick to serve as sergeant.

  • TCPD cracks down on unsafe drivers during enforcement campaign

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Police Department announced the completion of its March dangerous and impaired driving enforcement campaign.

    During the 24-day enforcement period, 54 tickets and 61 warnings were written. Four arrests were also made within Tell City.

  • Four troopers honored for service

    INDIANAPOLIS – Four troopers from the Jasper District were honored recently at an awards ceremony at the Indiana Government Center.

    Troopers Michael Allen, Brock Werne, Stephen Sexton, and Jeremy Galloway were presented awards for their service to the state of Indiana.

  • Police warn of IRS scam attempts

    TELL CITY – Police remind residents to be aware of an increasingly common scam attempt by someone claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service.

    Police said a woman contacted the department after receiving a call from someone who said they were with the IRS and claimed she owed $5,000. The caller told the woman if she did not pay the bill within two hours she would be arrested by the Tell City Police Department.

  • Police nab suspects on drug, weapons charges

    TELL CITY – A report of a disturbance at a local hotel led to the arrest of two people Wednesday on several drug and weapons charges. On March 16, Tell City Central Dispatch received a call from the Ramada Inn located at 235 Orchard Hill Drive in Tell City, in reference to a physical altercation inside one of the rooms.

    Tell City Police responded along with the Perry County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police. Officers made contact with the occupants in the room and reportedly discovered drug activity inside.

  • Traffic stop lands Jasper man in jail for driving after using meth

    TELL CITY – An early morning traffic stop Thursday resulted in the arrest of a Jasper man on operating while intoxicated charges.

    At 2:43 a.m., Trooper Charlie Johnson was patrolling Main Street in Tell City when he observed a southbound 2001 Chrysler traveling 52 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone. Johnson also observed the vehicle travel across the centerline numerous times.

  • Adyeville man faces felony meth charges

    BRISTOW – A Perry County man faces multiple felony charges, including one count of dealing in methamphetamine, after state police followed up on a lead of possible illegal drug activity last week on Cattail Road.

    According to state police, Master Trooper Trey Lytton and Trooper Brock Werne  responded Jan. 6 to 24100 Cattail Road near Adyeville to conduct a drug investigation at the Brent Bolin residence. Troopers spoke to Bolin, 52, at his residence and after a short time left the home.

  • Troy man jailed on multiple drug charges

    PERRY COUNTY – A tip about possible drug activity led the Perry County Sheriff’s Department to Troy Sunday, where an investigation led to the arrest of a man on several methamphetamine charges.

    According to the sheriff’s department, deputies received information about possible illegal drug activity at 620 Washington Street, Lot 2 in Troy.
