CANNELTON – Cannelton police officers will get a healthy pay raise if a salary ordinance common-council members voted Sept. 12 to amend receives their final approval next month.
Police Chief Eric Dickenson asked the council at a regular meeting to consider raising officers’ pay, noting that an officer’s pay in the 1980s was $8 per hour, and it has increased only 50 cents.
“That’s what they paid me when I went to the (law-enforcement) academy,” the chief said.
