  • Knights of Columbus set Christmas party

    TELL CITY – The Knights of Columbus Auxiliary will host the annual Christmas party Saturday.

    The day will begin with a children’s party from 1 to 3 p.m. Children attending the event need to register at the club to make sure Santa has a gift for everyone.

    The adult party for all Knights and auxiliary members will begin at 6 p.m. Each family is asked to take a covered dish. Meat and table service will be furnished by the club.

    Entertainment will begin at 8 p.m.

  • Tempel named county’s new parks director

    CANNELTON – A southern Indiana native is returning home from Wisconsin to become the Perry County Parks and Recreation Department’s new recreation director.

    The parks board voted unanimously Wednesday to offer the position to Adam Tempel, a 2005 Heritage Hills graduate, and he said Thursday that he has accepted the position.

    TELL CITY – Health-insurance cost increases are “trending” at 11 percent for next year, Pete Franzman told the county commissioners at a regular meeting Nov. 23, and prescription costs are expected to rise 12.7 percent.

    TELL CITY – The incident in which a Tell City man and five other soldiers were killed in Afghanistan Monday lasted all of 10 or 15 seconds, according to a general addressing reporters at Fort Campbell by video teleconference Thursday.

    Gentryville – A Perry County native died Thanksgiving Day from injuries he sustained that morning in a collision with a tractor-trailer near Gentryville.

    The Indiana State Police Post in Jasper received a report of a two-vehicle crash with injury at Indiana 162 east of U.S. 231 in Spencer County.
