Hauser says every person, idea important

TELL CITY - Tom Hauser, 8340 N. Indiana 66, Rome, who filed his candidacy for an at-large seat on the Perry County Council just ahead of a noon, Feb. 22 deadline, said Thursday he wants to serve the county he calls home.

"I have a vested interest in the county because I was born and raised here and I plan on staying here," he said. "I want to help protect the financial aspects of the county."

CANNELTON - Members of Cannelton's board of public works and safety and common council accepted a $1,500 bid for repairs to the city's street-department building at a regular meeting March 10.

The bid from Charlie Weatherholt was the lowest of two received for repairs to a gutter and sliding door.

TELL CITY - At least three days a week, a van travels to Veterans Affairs hospitals and clinics in and around Louisville, Ky. In the van are local veterans who without the Disabled American Veterans van and the volunteers who drive it, would not have a way to their appointments.

At first, American Legion Post 213 Commander Gene Risse said, volunteers drove veterans to appointments in their own vehicles. Then in 2004, local veterans raised enough money to pay for half of the cost of a van while DAV paid the rest.

Epsilon Omega Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa will sponsor its annual Breakfast with the Easter Bunny March 22 at Tell City Moose Lodge 1424. From 9 to 11 a.m., children up to fifth grade are invited to participate in activities, enjoy breakfast and take photos with the Easter Bunny. All children will receive a candy bag. Committee members are Martha DuPre, Sonya Hagedorn, Jean Schulthise, Betty Cash, Sandy Traphagen, Sarah Miller and Dr. Ana Lagunzad.
