TELL CITY - People who need to pay bills to the county treasurer's office may be able to do so with debit or credit cards in that office, by phone or through the Internet, if Craig Moore's sales pitch was successful.

The representative of an Indianapolis-based service called PayTrust Solutions made the pitch before the Perry County commissioners at their regular meeting Monday.

TELL CITY - Perry County commissioners adopted at a regular meeting Monday a resolution offered by County Coroner Darrel Riley, protecting the paychecks of three deputy coroners.

LEOPOLD - A Perry County couple whose school buses have transported Perry Central students for more than three decades hopes to have contracts for three routes extended for another year or two to help them recoup their investment, they told school leaders Monday.

Allen and Barbara Goffinet appeared before Monday's meeting of the school trustees and asked to have the three bus contracts they have had for several years extended beyond their expiration date this spring.

ST. CROIX - Hugh Judge of St. Croix wants to help ensure people don't fall for a scam involving telephones and the Publishers Clearing House name.

He received a second call last month from people claiming to be from the millionaire-making magazine-sales company, he told The News Wednesday. The callers told them he'd won some money, but were really trying to get personal data such as checking-account information.

"I am a customer of Publishers Clearing House," he said. "I have sent in entries for probably 10 years."
