  • FSA county committee nomination period in Spencer, Perry counties now open

    ROCKPORT – Spencer-Perry County U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency Executive Director Rhonda Eaton announced the nomination period for local FSA county committees began June 15. Nomination forms must be postmarked or received in the Spencer and Perry County FSA offices by the close of business Aug. 3.

    “County Committees are unique to FSA and allow producers to have a voice on federal farm program implementation at the local level,” said Eaton.

  • Ribbon cutting set for new sign at Tell City Jr.-Sr. High School

    Tell City - The Perry County Chamber of Commerce will conduct a ribbon cutting at Tell City Junior Senior High School Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 1 p.m., in celebration of the generous donation by German American of new digital sign. The new sign is located on the lawn directly in front of the school at 900 12th St. in Tell City.

As it happens, the key to getting our elusive cousins in the cosmos to respond was as easy as writing a message on a party balloon and sending it skyward.

    My father, Harold Lynch of St. Croix, has shared his home place with many people.

    The site has also been a favorite for memorable pictures to be taken. Laura Schwartz of Bandon is one of the local photographers who have taken pictures at the Lynch Ole Homeplace.

    BY MARY HILL, News Correspondent, Phone 842-5779 —Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Anna Heeke due to her recent death. Anna passed away Monday, July 20, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.

    Becher Funeral home in Ferdinand was in charge of funeral arrangements. Funeral services for Anna will be held Thursday morning at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Siberia with burial in the church cemetery.

    Roger Arnold passed away Wednesday, July 1, at his residence in Texas. A celebration of life will be held for Roger at 12:30 p.m., Aug. 9, at his home place in Mariah Hill.

    Billie Rissler passed away July 11. She was laid to rest in the Walker Cemetery in Branchville. We will miss her smiling face at Golden Living, when we entertain the residents.
