  • Hayes Named to U. of Memphis dean’s list

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. – McKenzie Hayes of Tell City was named to the dean’s list at the University of Memphis for the fall 2014 semester. The dean’s list is composed of students who have earned 12 or more hours in either the fall or spring semester with a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for that semester.

  • Tots Lots Preschool now enrolling for fall

     

    TELL CITY – Tots Lots Preschool is now enrolling for the 2015-16 school year.

    For a child to be eligible for the 4-year-old Frogs session of Tots Lots, he or she must be 4 years old by Aug. 1.  This session will meet Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 to 11:30 a.m. or Monday through Friday from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

    For a child to be eligible for the 3-year-old Tadpole session of Tots Lots, he or she must be 3 years old by Aug. 1. This class is in session from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays.

  • United Way grant deadline Friday

    PERRY COUNTY – Health and human service organizations are invited to apply for funding from the United Way of Perry County. Grant applications are available on United Way of Perry County’s website at www.unitedwayperryco.org/grantmaking. 

    All applications are due via email by 5 p.m., Friday, March 6.  Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Applicants must be a health and human service organization and maintain a 501c3 tax status.

  • LHDC South Perry Head Start open house planned for Thursday, March 12

    TELL CITY – The Lincoln Hills Development Corp. South Perry Head Start Center is currently taking applications for enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year.  On Thursday, March 12, Head Start organizers encourage any interested family or community member to attend an open house from 1 to 6 p.m. 

    Parents may complete enrollment information for their children at this time and visit the classrooms and talk with teachers to learn more about Head Start.  The South Perry Head Start Center is located at the corner of 19th and Tell streets in Tell City.

  • WTE schedules kindergarten round-up

     

    TELL CITY – Kindergarten enrollment for the Tell City-Troy Township School Corporation will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 12, for children entering school for the first time. Attendees should enter through the main door and follow signs. 

    To enter kindergarten for the 2015-16 school year, a child must be at least 5 years old on or before Aug. 1.  A child does not have to enroll in kindergarten at age 5. If parents believe the child is not ready, the child may enter kindergarten at age 6.

    Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches will be offered as third choice. Salads on Monday, Wednesday; subs on Tuesday, Thursday.

    Monday: BREAKFAST - Sausage bagel LUNCH - Chicken nuggets, bread, green beans and apple crisp.

  • Stepping Stones now registering for fall

     

    LEOPOLD – Stepping Stones Preschool, located in the lower level of St. Augustine Catholic Church parish hall, is accepting registrations for the 2015-16 school year. 

    The preschool seeks to provide a positive educational experience for 3 and 4 year old children, preparing them for elementary school. Stepping Stones uses Zoo-phonics, a multisensory language arts program, and a thematic unit and project-type approach to learning. 

  • Glory Bees Preschool registering for 2015-16

    TELL CITY – Glory Bees Preschool, established in 1986, is accepting applications for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year.

    Children between the ages of 3 and 6 are offered a variety of learning adventures. Christian based, Glory Bees embraces learning through play in acquiring math skills, phonetic letter introduction, science, art, manners, P.E. and cooking.

  • Perry Central preschool, kindergarten round-up dates set for April 10, 17


    LEOPOLD – Perry Central is accepting registration for preschool and kindergarten for the 2015-16 school year.

    Children who will be 4 years old by Aug. 1 are eligible to attend preschool. Children who will be 5 years old by Aug. 1 are eligible for kindergarten.

    Preschool round-up will be Friday, April 10. Kindergarten round-up is scheduled for Friday, April 17.
