  • Cannelton elementary to host yard sale Saturday

    CANNELTON – Cannelton elementary will hold a yard sale from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Cannelton American Legion.
    Everyone is welcome to put items in this yard sale.
    All items should be taken to the Legion home from 10 to 11 p.m. (after bingo) Friday, or from 5 to 6 a.m. Saturday before the yard sale.
    All proceeds will benefit the school’s technology fund.

  • Science fair at Tots Lots

    Tots Lots Preschool recently held its first science-art show. Each child created an art project of their own and the projects were displayed for family and friends to view. Science projects were formulated at school in groups and also displayed for hands-on fun. Some children and their families created their own projects at home and took them in to share with others. Pictured with her project, titled “Sink or Swim,” is Erin Holtzman.
     

  • School corp. to hold public meeting

    TELL CITY – The Tell City-Troy Township School Corporation will conduct a public hearing regarding the Public Law 221 Academic Category Placement at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
    This hearing will take place in the auditorium prior to the 7 p.m. school board meeting.

  • TCHS Art Show opens Monday

    TELL CITY – The seventh annual Tell City High School Art Show will be held next week. The event will be in the new Tell City Junior-Senior High School Library. The show will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
    Visitors are asked to park in the teachers-visitors parking lot and sign in at the office during the school day. The art department and students are asking the parents, businesses and community to attend and see their artwork.

  • North Perry Head Start accepting applications

    LEOPOLD – The Lincoln Hills Development Corporation North Perry Head Start is currently taking applications for enrollment for the 2011-12 school year. An open house will be held Friday, April 8 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You may enroll your child at this time or you may visit to learn more about Head Start. The North Perry Head Start Center is located next to Perry Central in Leopold.

  • Hilgenhold meets with national leaders in Washington D.C.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. – Levi Hilgenhold of Gatchel recently participated in a leadership development conference in the nation’s capital.

    During the six-day program, the National Young Leaders Conference provided Hilgenhold and other students the opportunity to interact with a variety of personnel who operate within the three branches of government, the news media and the international community.

    Hemmings earns all-American scholar-at-large award
    TELL CITY – The United States Achievement Academy announced today that Mikah Hemmings of Tell City has been named an All-American Scholar At-Large Award Winner. Hemmings will appear in the All-American Scholar Official Yearbook, which is published nationally.

  • Kast named to dean’s list

    TELL CITY – Jeffrey Andrew “Andy” Kast of Tell City has been named to the dean’s list in the Indiana State University’s College of Science for outstanding scholarship during the fall 2010 semester.

    Currently a sophomore in the ISU-Indiana University School of Medicine’s B-MD Rural Health Program, he has maintained a 4.0 grade-point average.
