  • Cannelton students rewarded for good deeds

    Cannelton elementary schools recently held their annual Good as Gold drawings for the 2010-11 school year.

  • Best Chairs awards scholarships to local students

    PERRY COUNTY – Best Chairs Foundation, Inc., recently awarded scholarships to five dependent children of full time employees of Best Home Furnishings.

    Each individual received either a four-year $4,000 scholarship or a two-year $2,000 scholarship. Three of the five students are from Perry County schools.
    Sara Brown, daughter of Kemual (sofa upholster) and Dina Brown of Troy, graduated from Perry Central High School.

    Aldridge named to IU dean’s list
    BLOOMINGTON – Baylor Aldridge has recently been named to the dean’s list in the Indiana University School of Informatics and Computing for the spring semester of 2011, in recognition of outstanding academic achievement.
    Eligibility for the dean’s list is reserved for those students who complete at least 12 graded credit hours in a single semester, earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average.

    Stepping Stones Pre School recently held a graduation for its students to mark the end of the school year.


     

  • Local elementaries among Hoosier Healthy schools for 2010-11

    INDIANAPOLIS – A record 113 Indiana schools have received the 2010-11 Indiana Action for Healthy Kids Healthy Hoosier School Award.
    This year 129 schools submitted applications, the highest number since the award began seven years ago.
    Applying schools were judged for their ability to create healthy environments for students that promote good nutrition and physical activity.

  • TCJSHS honors students during end-of-the-year program

    TELL CITY – Tell City Junior - Senior High School hosted its annual honors program May 16.

    There were 126 students who were recognized at the program, which was held in the school auditorium. Principal Brad Ramsey welcomed students, parents and invited guests. Following the program, light refreshments were served in the Red Apple Inn.

  • PC Elementary artists honored

    LEOPOLD – Perry Central Elementary School held its annual art show from May 16 to May 20 at the school.
    Winners were selected in all grades. Students received ribbons and prizes for winning.

     

  • Tell City economic team earns first place

    Students from Regina Schaefer’s economic classes at Tell City Junior-Senior High School were just a few of the more than 7,000 students across Indiana to participate in the Indiana Stock Market Game Program this past spring.
    The team consisting of Laura Denoncour, Katie Elder, Greg Holliden and Andrew Jones came in first place out of 305 teams in the southwest Indiana high school division. They were recognized at an awards program at USI May 17.
