  • Stepping Stones to hold open house Feb. 11

    LEOPOLD – The public is invited to visit Stepping Stones Preschool’s fall open house Thursday, Feb. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 18020 Lafayette St., Leopold. Guests can meet the staff or tour the facility.
    Stepping Stones Preschool offers extended care for children needing early drop-off or late pickup. Students using extended care are provided breakfast if needed, lunch and an afternoon snack.

    CANNELTON – Cannelton High School will celebrate its 2016 homecoming, “Welcome Home to the Black and Gold” Friday, Jan. 29 in the Cannelton Community Center starting at approximately 6:15 p.m.

    There are four queen candidates.

  • Perry Central Elementary School honor rolls released

    LEOPOLD – Perry Central Elementary School has released the honor rolls for both the second quarter of the first semester and the first semester as a whole.

    Second quarter

    Grade 3 distinguished honor roll: Thomas Edwards, Clara Foertsch, Molly Goffinet, Aubreigh Gogel, Rylie Horrom, Trista Jones, Hunter Kellems, Teyah Mullis, Celena Peter, Savannah Schaad, Naomie Schultz, Kya Smith, Caleb VanWinkle, Gavin Wallace, Julia Walsh, Savannah Whistle and Cole Yeager.

  • ISTEP results, teacher incentive pay addressed

    TELL CITY – A large portion of the Tell City School Corp. Board’s activity at its first meeting  of the year Jan. 12, was devoted to reorganization. Among the laundry list of agenda items was election of board president, vice president and secretary.

    Presiding board president, Larry Kleeman, was nominated for all three positions but declined to serve in either of the top jobs, eventually accepting the title of secretary.

  • James receives fellowship to continue studies

    EVANSTON – Indiana State University, through the history department, has awarded the Gertrude and Theodore Debs Memorial Fellowship to Landan James to continue his study in the history of American labor and reform movements. This award is granted annually and is valued at $7,500. Up to two fellowships are awarded each year.

    Landan is a 2010 graduate of Heritage Hills High School. He is the son of Charles and Janet James, formerly of Evanston.

    He is now beginning the last semester of his graduate program, studying the history of social reform movements.

    TELL CITY – William Tell Elementary has released its honor rolls for the second nine-week grading period of the 2015-16 school year.

  • Perry Central Homecoming candidates chosen

    LEOPOLD – The 2015-16 Perry Central Basketball Homecoming Ceremony will be held between games of the boys’ varsity/junior varsity basketball game against Orleans this Friday evening, Jan. 22. The junior varsity game begins at 5:30 p.m.

    The senior class selected the queen and king candidates, and the entire high school student body chose the queen and king.

    LEOPOLD – Perry Central Jr.-Sr. High School has released the honor roll for the second grading period.
