This article is another in a series provided to the News by Cannelton schools recognizing the accomplishments of students.
CANNELTON – Below are some of the recent accomplishments of students at Cannelton elementary schools. The staff of the schools congratulate the students on their work and believe they deserve this recognition.
Makayla Hulse is a kindergartner who does an outstanding job of getting along with her friends. She helps them and always tries to do the right thing.

Perry Central Elementary is using the mCLASS testing system in kindergarten through second grades to assess foundational skills of students as well as provide teachers with instructional suggestions based on student performance. This assessment is given at the beginning, middle and then at the end of the school year.  Perry Central teachers and testing coordinators used this data as well as first and second quarter standards based report cards to determine student growth. Students who showed improvement were then honored by the Captains Club with a pizza party Feb. 28.

TELL CITY – The Board of Directors of Dollars for Scholars of Tell City-Perry County has announced it is accepting applications for interest-free loans to be awarded to students pursuing a post-high school education for the fall 2013 semester. Applications are available at the offices of the guidance counselors at Cannelton, Perry Central and Tell City high schools and at Fifth Third Bank. The deadline for submitting applications is June 1.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Eric Henrickson has been named to the fall 2012 dean’s list at Western Kentucky University.
To be selected for the dean’s list, a student must attain an academic standing of a 3.4 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale for the semester.

Henrickson is the son of Brad and Sandy Henrickson. He is currently in his senior year at WKU and will graduate in May 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in teaching, with a major in physical education and a minor in health.
