  • Perry Central, Jasper Engines earn state honors

    LEOPOLD – The Indiana Chamber of Commerce has recognized Perry Central Jr.-Sr. High School and Jasper Engines and Transmissions as the Indiana Chamber Foundation School Counseling-Business Partnership of the Year.

    The honor was presented Wednesday by Indiana INTERNnet during the 12th annual IMPACT Awards Luncheon in Indianapolis. INTERNnet is a statewide resource for internship opportunities managed by the state Chamber of Commerce.

  • New site director appointed at Tell City Ivy Tech

    TELL CITY – Kyla Krieg, site director for Ivy Tech Community College Princeton Career and Technology Center, has been named Director of Outreach and Engagement for both the Princeton site, as well as the Tell City Career and Technology Center. She will be serving Pike, Gibson, Dubois, Perry, and Spencer Counties.


    Krieg, replaces Linda Reed, who has served as the site manager in Tell City since 2015. She is now Tell City and dual credit coordinator for Ivy Tech Community College.

  • Elementary hosting robotics competition Saturday

    TELL CITY – Hosting its first ever competition of this type, more than 200 elementary and middle school robotics students and mentors from around Tell City, Lamar, Leopold, Fort Branch and other schools will unite at William Tell Elementary School on Saturday for the VEX IQ Challenge Ringmaster tournament. The action-packed event will feature more than 26 teams that will collaborate with other schools in a series of back-to-back robot challenges.

    LEOPOLD – A generation ago, school guidance counselors’ biggest jobs, other than the occasional disruption in the classroom, were to get students to  apply for scholarships and to think about what college they wanted to attend. Not any more.
