• TC pep rally live on 14 WFIE

    TELL CITY – Tell City schools invite the public to show school and community spirit Friday, Oct. 2.

    From 6 to 7 a.m., the school will participate in Channel 14’s Sunrise School Spirit competition. NBC 14 WFIE will air live from Bryan Taylor Sports Arena. As part of the pep rally, students and staff are collecting canned food to donate to area food banks. Businesses are encouraged to donate at least 150 canned food items on the morning of the event.

  • WTE schedules parent-teacher conferences for week of Oct. 5

    TELL CITY – William Tell Elementary School will host parent-teacher conferences the afternoon and evening of Thursday, Oct. 8. Parents will be notified of their scheduled time by Monday, Oct. 5.

    If parents need to make any changes with their appointment, they are asked to contact their child’s teacher at (812) 547-9727. Fall break days include:  Friday, Oct. 23, Monday, Oct. 26 and Tuesday, Oct. 27.

  • Perry Central to crown homecoming king, queen Friday

    LEOPOLD – The 2015 Perry Central High School football homecoming ceremony will be held during halftime of the varsity football game vs. Wood Memorial Friday, Sept. 25. Game time is 7 p.m.

    King and queen candidates were selected by their fellow senior classmates. The entire high-school student body chose the queen and king.

  • Students invited to enter digital photography contest

    PERRY COUNTY – Perry County students in grades K-12 are invited to participate in a digital photography contest to celebrate life in Perry County.

    Students must submit a photo which demonstrates the theme “Perry County: Love Where You Live!”

    • The digital photography contest is for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

    Students also must be Perry County residents.

    • Photos must solely be the student’s work and each student must only submit one photo.

  • VFW to sponsor scholarships

    PERRY COUNTY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 and its auxiliary is sponsoring two scholarship programs for Perry County students in grades six through 12. Each scholarship program incorporates a patriotic theme.

    Prizes are progressive and awarded at local, district, state and national levels. Recipients may earn more than $30,000 to be used to further their education. The two scholarships are:

  • Buntin earns bachelor’s degree in accounting

    TELL CITY – Diane Katherine Buntin graduated from Western Governors University Indiana Aug. 28, with a bachelor of science in accounting.

    A commencement ceremony will be held for all Indiana graduates in Indianapolis at the Indiana Convention Center Sept. 26.

    Buntin completed her degree in 15 months from WGU, with several credits accepted from Ivy Tech Community College.

    By partnering with other schools, WGU students are able to accelerate their program and save money
