LEOPOLD – Students at Lincoln Hills Development Corp. North Perry Head Start participated in activities based on the theme of Thanksgiving in November.

Each child invited a special person to attend skits, which the students performed, and then ended a special day with an ice cream social.
The children recited the Pledge of Allegiance and then presented a tribute to the Native Americans and pilgrims first Thanksgiving.
The tribute was performed by the students and narrated by teacher Cindy Lewis.

TELL CITY – Katelyn Bryant of Tell City has been nominated for membership in the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi by Ball State University Chapter 290.

Nomination to the society recognizes that she is among the top 10 percent of seniors in her college.
An initiation ceremony was held Dec. 4 in the Ball State University Student Center with a reception afterward.
Bryant is the daughter of Larry and Terri Bryant of Tell City and the granddaughter of Robert and Elva Dickman. She is a 2008 graduate of Tell City High School.

PERRY COUNTY – Lincoln Hills Development Corp.’s Youth Service Bureau recently held their PEAK Night programs at William Tell and Cannelton elementary schools.

The Early Risers Skills for Success program sponsors a Parents Excited About Kids Night once each semester.
This semester, 57 parents, students and professionals enjoyed an evening of encouragement, which included a family meal and student-led poetry reading.

Members from Cannelton American Legion’s Post 142 are shown, along with members of Cannelton Elementary’s student council, raising a new American and Indiana flag donated annually by the Post. A brief ceremony was held and Legion members then presented the William Bennett Early Learning Center building with their flags as well.
