  • Students get hands-on experience at Jasper Engines

    On March 14, Perry Central students had the opportunity to take a field trip to Jasper Engines, the Crawford County Division.

    They were treated to a tour of the plant, hands on activities in the dojo training center, team building activities and a pizza lunch. The students were very impressed with the training that is offered to Jasper’s employees.

  • Fun in the sand

    Lincoln Hills Development Corp. Early Head Start children and their families recently enjoyed a day out together creating sand boxes.

    Pictured above is Bryleigh Gieseke having fun with her sandbox. Early Head Start participants meet weekly for home visits and twice monthly for playtime, education, and family activities. For more information, contact Kelly Luker at 619-1842 or 547-4850 Ext. 113.

  • North Perry Head Start taking applications for the 2013-14

    LEOPOLD – The Lincoln Hills Development Corp. North Perry Head Start is accepting applications for enrollment for the 2013-14 school year.
    The staff encourages any interested family or community member to attend the Head Start’s open house April 19 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
    You may enroll your child at this time or you may visit to learn more about Head Start. The North Perry Head Start Center is located next to Perry Central in Leopold.

  • Adult education classes at Ivy Tech

    TELL CITY – Work-One Southwest is offering an adult education class hosted by Ivy Tech in Tell City. If you meet the criteria, these classes will offer you opportunities to strengthen math, reading and language skills, add a GED to your resume, prepare for post-secondary training and increase wage earning potential.
    Classes will be held from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays beginning April 22 and ending June 20. All classes will be at Ivy Tech in Tell City.

  • Dilger named Indiana University dean’s list

    BLOOMINGTON – Tyler Dilger, a resident of Tell City, has been named to the fall 2012 dean’s list at Indiana University.
    Eligibility for the dean’s list is reserved for those students who complete at least 12 graded, credit hours in a single semester, earning at least a 3.8 grade-point average.
    Dilger is a sophomore at IU and majoring in recreational sports management. He is the son of Greg and Suzanne Dilger.

  • KWC hosting events for prospective students

    OWENSBORO, Ky. – Students will have the chance to explore Kentucky Wesleyan College at two upcoming events. KWC will hold an off-campus Prospective Student Reception from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Hilton Garden Inn, 220 Eagle Crest Drive in Evansville.
    From accounting to zoology, students can explore the more than 40 academic majors and pre-professional programs available.
    The Director of Financial Aid will also be in attendance to answer any questions students and their families may have about the FAFSA and the financial aid process.

  • New scholarship available at PCHS

    LEOPOLD – A new scholarship is now available to students of Perry Central. Current students or recent graduates of Perry Central who are enrolled in a technical school and majoring in the area of welding or auto mechanics are eligible to apply.
    The John “Jack” Giesler Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000 need-based scholarship. Along with the requirements above, applicants must also submit a copy of their high-school transcript with a completed application.

  • Local residents present at U of E research conference March 23

    EVANSVILLE – The University of Evansville announces local residents were selected to present original research at the University’s ninth annual MESCON; a math, engineering and science undergraduate research conference.
    They were as follows:
    Dylan Kleemann of Tell City, majoring in civil engineering, gave a presentation titled “Multi-use Trail Design for Evansville Area Trails Coalition.”

  • Current version of GED test to expire in 2013

    PERRY COUNTY – The GED Testing Service would like to inform test-takers who need to finish the GED test by the end of 2013 some critical facts. The current version of the test – the 2002 Series GED Test – will expire at the end of 2013, along with incomplete test scores.

  • Annual high-school art show begins April 8

    TELL CITY – The ninth annual Tell City High School Art Show will be held from 9 to 6 p.m. April 8 and 11 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 9, 10 and 12. The event will be held in the school’s library.
    Some of the items that can be viewed are pencil drawings, pastels, oil and acrylic paintings, watercolors, scratchboards, large-scale paper-mache sculptures, clay projects, weavings and other fiber projects among many other media.
