  • Kohnert earns degree from Purdue

    WEST LAFAYETTE – Joseph Kohnert graduated from Purdue University’s College of Engineering May 11. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

    While at Purdue, Kohnert earned Purdue’s Presidential Scholarship all four years. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
    Following his junior year, Kohnert completed an internship at Delphi Electronics and Safety in Kokomo and later accepted a position there. His employment began June 5.

  • Hall awarded two scholarships

    TELL CITY – Devin Hall, a 2012 graduate of Perry Central High School, was recently awarded two scholarships.

    The first was a $500 Neil Mulzer Memorial Scholarship to be used for tuition, book or lab fees. The second scholarship Hall earn-ed was the Indiana Association of Pediatric Hermatology-Oncology Nurses scholarship totaling $500. To receive this scholarship, Hall was asked to write an essay on his disease, histiocytosis.

  • Students recognized at Brescia

    TELL CITY – Sonya Lenea Lindauer from Tell City graduated cum laude from Brescia University with a bachelor’s degree in biology degree. She is a member of Alpha Chi and Delta Epsilon Sigma.
    Lenea received the Biology Area Special Recognition Award, award for participating in the Brescia University Honors Program and completing it, and was the recipient of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society Leadership Award.
    Senior Jordan Lee Rhodes from Tell City, who is a major in elementary education, was named to the spring 2012 dean’s list.

  • Early Head Start Day Out

    Lincoln Hills Development Corp. Early Head Start children and their families enjoyed a day out together recently.

  • Goad earns ETSU spring 2012 dean’s list spot

    JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – East Tennessee State University has announced the names of students who attained a grade-point average qualifying them for inclusion in the dean’s list for the spring 2012 semester. To receive this honor, students must successfully complete a minimum of 12 hours of undergraduate coursework with a GPA of at least 3.7 on a 4.0 scale.
    Tell City native Rachel M. Goad appeared on the list.

  • Alvey earns law degree

    NAPLES, Fla. – Christie Alvey graduated from Ave Maria School of Law May 12 with a jurisdoctor of law degree.

    She is a 1998 graduate of Cannelton High School, a 2003 graduate of Urbana University with a bachelor’s degree in sports management and 2006 graduate of Indiana Wesleyan with a degree in physical and health education and special education.
    She is the daughter of Rose and Denny Moore of Eckerty and the late Gordon Alvey.

  • Jasper Engine announces scholarship recipients

    JASPER – Jasper Engine and Transmission has announced the winners of its annual scholarship program. Applicants must be dependent children of full-time Jasper associates. A rating system of several criteria is used to determine the recipients.

    Brad Douglas, a graduate of Perry Central High School, was a local recipient. He will attend Oakland City University to study pre-law and sports administration.
    He is the son of Daniel and Rebecca Douglas. His father is co-department manager in Jasper Engine’s differential department.

  • Goffinet recognized for achievements

    TELL CITY – Lauren Goffinet, a 2009 graduate of Tell City High School, was named to the president’s and dean’s lists of Kentucky Wesleyan College for the spring 2012 semester.

    The president’s list honors superior academic achievement, and students must attain a 4.0 grade-point average while being enrolled as a full-time student. The dean’s list recognizes students who attain a GPA of at least 3.5. Goffinet has been named to the president’s list five times and the dean’s list six times.
