  • Annual high-school art show begins April 8

    TELL CITY – The ninth annual Tell City High School Art Show will be held from 9 to 6 p.m. April 8 and 11 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 9, 10 and 12. The event will be held in the school’s library.
    Some of the items that can be viewed are pencil drawings, pastels, oil and acrylic paintings, watercolors, scratchboards, large-scale paper-mache sculptures, clay projects, weavings and other fiber projects among many other media.

    Cannelton Elementary’s first through fifth grade students have been collecting cans for a food drive.

  • Daughters of Isabella Scholarship available

    PERRY COUNTY – The Nativity Circle of the Daughters of Isabella will award a scholarship to a high-school graduate from any high school this year.
    The $500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduate of a child or grandchild of a member of the local circle.
    The criteria for the award is based on financial need, academic, extracurricular activities and community involvement.
    Applications will be available at the group’s April 2 meeting or by calling Mary Seibert at 547-4847. The deadline to submit them is April 29.

  • Cannelton Media Club’s Snail’s Pace fundraiser

    The Cannelton Media Club recently completed its Snail’s Pace fundraiser, which sponsor Joan Goble said was successful. Money raised with this fundraiser goes toward the club’s festival competition in the fall.

  • Zimmer named to dean’s list at Ithaca College School of Music

    ITHACA, N.Y. – Adam Zimmer, a resident of Tell City and a senior music major, was named to the dean’s list in Ithaca College’s School of Music for the fall 2012 semester.
    From day one, Ithaca College prepares students for personal and professional success through hands-on experience with internships, research and study abroad. Its integrative curriculum builds bridges across disciplines and uniquely blends liberal arts and professional study.

  • CCC Preschool hosting open house Thursday

    TELL CITY – Community Christian Church preschool will open registration for the 2013-14 school year at its open house from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday.
    Parents will have the opportunity to tour the preschool, visit classrooms, review the curriculum, meet the staff, and take advantage of this early enrollment. A registration fee is due at time of enrollment.

  • Clean teeth at Head Start

    During February, the children of Lincoln Hills Development Corp. North Perry County Head Start Center enjoyed activities that dealt with dental health. Rachel Metzger, a dental associate with Butler Family Dentistry, visited with information about the importance of caring for teeth.

    CANNELTON – Below are some of the recent accomplishments of students at Cannelton elementary schools. The staff of the schools congratulate the students on their work and believe they deserve this recognition.
    Makayla Hulse is a kindergartner who does an outstanding job of getting along with her friends. She helps them and always tries to do the right thing.
