  • LHDC South Perry Head Start open house planned for Thursday, March 12

    TELL CITY – The Lincoln Hills Development Corp. South Perry Head Start Center is currently taking applications for enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year.  On Thursday, March 12, Head Start organizers encourage any interested family or community member to attend an open house from 1 to 6 p.m. 

    Parents may complete enrollment information for their children at this time and visit the classrooms and talk with teachers to learn more about Head Start.  The South Perry Head Start Center is located at the corner of 19th and Tell streets in Tell City.

  • Tots Lots Preschool now enrolling for fall

     

    TELL CITY – Tots Lots Preschool is now enrolling for the 2015-16 school year.

    For a child to be eligible for the 4-year-old Frogs session of Tots Lots, he or she must be 4 years old by Aug. 1.  This session will meet Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 to 11:30 a.m. or Monday through Friday from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

    For a child to be eligible for the 3-year-old Tadpole session of Tots Lots, he or she must be 3 years old by Aug. 1. This class is in session from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays.

  • United Way grant deadline Friday

    PERRY COUNTY – Health and human service organizations are invited to apply for funding from the United Way of Perry County. Grant applications are available on United Way of Perry County’s website at www.unitedwayperryco.org/grantmaking. 

    All applications are due via email by 5 p.m., Friday, March 6.  Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Applicants must be a health and human service organization and maintain a 501c3 tax status.

  • Stepping Stones now registering for fall

     

    LEOPOLD – Stepping Stones Preschool, located in the lower level of St. Augustine Catholic Church parish hall, is accepting registrations for the 2015-16 school year. 

    The preschool seeks to provide a positive educational experience for 3 and 4 year old children, preparing them for elementary school. Stepping Stones uses Zoo-phonics, a multisensory language arts program, and a thematic unit and project-type approach to learning.

  • SIP accepting scholarship applications through Feb. 16

    TELL CITY – Southern Indiana Power announces that its Operation Round Up board of trustees is accepting applications for $500 scholarships through February 16, with disbursement for the fall semester of 2015. 

    Eligible students must be scheduled to attend their sophomore or higher year of college in the fall of 2015, be enrolled as a full time student carrying 12 hours or more and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • TCHS plans dinner, auction Saturday

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Junior Senior High School Renaissance Leadership class will host a spaghetti dinner and silent auction Saturday, Jan. 24, in the Red Apple Inn before the boys junior-varisty and varsity basketball games. 

    Tickets are $8 per meal and include baked spaghetti catered by The Post, a side salad, a 20 oz. bottled drink and dessert. Dinner will be served from 4:30 until 7 p.m.

    A silent auction will also take place in the Red Apple Inn for anyone attending either the dinner or the basketball games.

  • Muhlenkamp, Steckler named to Brescia’s dean’s list

    OWENSBORO, Ky. –  Jason M. Muhlenkamp  of St. Meinrad and Samantha J. Steckler of Leopold were recently named to Brescia University’s fall 2014 dean’s list. To be named, students must  complete 12 credit hours with a grade-point average of 3.5.

    Muhlenkamp is a senior majoring in theology, with an emphasis in pastoral studies and social work.

    Steckler is a freshman who is double-majoring in business, with an emphasis in finance, and economics; and theology with an emphasis in pastoral studies.
