    Lincoln Hills Development Corp. Early Head Start children and their families enjoy a day together at playtime at the Early Head Start building.

  • Bristow Christian’s annual scholarship

    Alan Cassidy, a church elder of the Bristow Christian Church, presents his grandson Tanner Cassidy with the Cecil Aders Scholarship totaling $1,000. Cassidy, the son of Brian and Lori Cassidy, will attend Indiana University School of Business. He is a 2013 graduate of Perry Central High School.

    Kieser earns dean’s list spot
    TELL CITY – Natasha Kieser was named to the fall 2012 and spring 2013 dean’s lists for Ivy Tech College.
    She is majoring in early childhood development and is expected to graduate in May 2014.
    Kieser is the daughter of Kenny and Susie Kieser and resides in Derby.

  • Drug, Alcohol Awareness poster contest student winners announced

    PERRY COUNTY – Perry County Prosecutor’s Office announces the winners of the 2013 Drug and Alcohol Awareness Poster Contest. The contest was open to all Perry County students in kindergarten through seventh grades, and ran from April 17 through May 17.

    A panel consisting of a member of the Perry County Substance Abuse Committee, a member of the local Fraternal Order of Police, the Victims Advocate and the Perry County Prosecutor judged each poster that was submitted.

    LINCOLN CITY – Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial announces the National Park Service’s Teaching with Historic Places program has launched its 144th lesson plan, “Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial: Where Man and Memory Intersect.”

  • Learning about weather

    Children at the Lincoln Hills Development Corp. South Perry County Head Start Center enjoyed activities that centered around the theme of kites and weather in April.

    The students took a field trip to Vastwood Park in Hawesville, Ky., for a nature and weather walk. They examined the weather, the different types of clouds and how the weather affects nature.

    Preschool through fifth-grade students and staff took their annual All Children Exercising Simultaneously Walk recently. Everyone took a walk around town and also utilized the new Cannelton Greenway.

  • Free summer-food service at Cannelton

    CANNELTON – Cannelton city schools plan to sponsor a free summer food service program for individuals less than 18 years of age. It will be held at Cannelton High School cafeteria.
    The program will begin June 3 and end July 27. No meals will be served July 4 and 5. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and lunch will be from 11 a.m. to noon.
