• Chamber to cut ribbon for B & A Construction

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Chamber of Commerce will conduct a ribbon-cutting for B & A Construction and Design on Saturday, Aug. 6, at 11 a.m. in celebration of the opening of its second location at 1348 Main St. in Tell City. An open house will be held the same day from 8 a.m. until noon.

    JASPER – German American Bancorp Inc. and its banking subsidiary, German American Bancorp have announced a number of promotions to its executive and senior officer group.

  • Winzerwald wins three medals in LA wine competition

    BRISTOW – Perry County’s Winzerwald Winery took not one, but three medals at the 2016 Los Angeles International Wine Competition.

    The L.A. International now in its 77th year is carried out by nearly 100 judges who each review around 120 wines per day. Over 3,000 wines from nearly 200 wineries around the globe were submitted for tasting in 2016.

  • Community foundation accepting grant proposals

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Community Foundation has announced that its Community Good granting cycle is now accepting grant applications from community organizations.

    Proposals are sought for charitable projects and activities that address needs and opportunities in the county in arts and culture, community development, education, environment, health, human services, recreation, youth development, women and/or girls, families, animal betterment and other areas that would improve the quality of life in Perry County.

  • Perry County Memorial Hospital receives grant to provide free mammograms

    TELL CITY – Perry County Memorial Hospital has received a grant from the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust and the Susan G. Komen Foundation to continue “Our Turn: A Breast Health Program.” Since 2003, the program has provided approximately 1,000 free screening mammograms to qualified women.

    This year’s grant will again make the screenings available on a first-come, first-served basis, to 40 local women.

  • Electric cooperative sends three on youth tour of nation’s capital

    TELL CITY – Southern Indiana Power sponsored three students on Indiana’s Electric Cooperative Youth Tour June 9-16. Youth Tour provides young Hoosiers the opportunity to visit the nation’s capital, experience American history and gain a better understanding about their electric cooperative and government.

    According to Steve Seibert, chief executive officer of Southern Indiana Power, a delegation of 82 Indiana students represented 34 Indiana electric cooperatives. More than 1,800 students from 47 states traveled to Washington for the week-long experience.

  • The Detail Shop opens doors on Main Street

    TELL CITY – Offering a range of automotive detail services, The Detail Shop, which opened its doors on Main Street in Tell City just a few weeks ago, is already experiencing more business than expected.

    Owner Todd Kellems said he has had several walk-in customers since he opened up shop around three weeks ago.

    He credits his shop’s “prime location” for the walk-in business and said one walk-in had three vehicles for him to clean.

    SANTA CLAUS – The world’s largest travel site, TripAdvisor.com, just announced the nation’s top water parks, with Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari very close to the top of that list.

    The 40-acre water park, among the largest in the world, was named the No. 4 park in the nation and No. 13 in the world, following only Orlando parks in the U.S. rankings. According to TripAdvisor.com, the Travelers Choice Awards honor the top one-percent of attractions worldwide.
