Chestnut will leave sheriff’s post for development role




TELL CITY – Perry County Sheriff Lee Chestnut will trade his gun and badge for a Main Street office this fall after announcing Monday he had accepted a position with the Perry County Development Corp. Instead of chasing criminals, Chestnut will help Perry Countians pursue the training they need to fill jobs in the community.

Chestnut, 40, said he will formally resign as sheriff  in coming days and work with the successor county Democrats will choose to run the department and detention center.
