Sophomores, juniors and seniors at Tell City High School witnessed first-hand Friday what takes place at the scenes of major traffic accidents. With an emphasis on depicting the consequences of underage drinking, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving while distracted, emergency medical responders portrayed the unfolding of a catastrophic event. As upperclassmen prepare for prom Saturday, the mock crash emphasizes the importance of making the appropriate decisions. The 20-minute scenario, which included a plot that put an intoxicated teenager behind the wheel, was hosted by school faculty with coordination from several city and county agencies including the police, fire and electric departments, emergency medical services and an Air Evac team. School administrators expressed their appreciation for the numerous organizations that participated in the event. In the top photo, having worked for several minutes to gain entry into a crashed sport-utility vehicle, an emergency crew was finally able to free an injured student, played by senior Logan Flamion.
