  • Chelsea Love Stowe of Cloverport, Ky., would like to announce the birth of her son, Isaiah Michael Stowe. Isaiah was born Jan. 7, 2016 at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City. He weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces and was 20 ½ inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Michael and the late Lisa Stowe of Perry County. Great-grandparents are Kittie Stowe, Loren and Karen Stephens and the late Frances Stowe, all of Perry County. Isaiah was also welcomed home by sibling Leah Anna Marie, 3.

  • PERRY COUNTY – Health and human service organizations are invited to apply for funding from the United Way of Perry County through March 4. Grant applications are available on United Way of Perry County’s website at www.unitedwayperryco.org/grantmaking.

    This year, the United Way of Perry County will distribute more than $74,000 in funds to area health and human service organizations to fund projects focused on education, health, financial stability and emergency assistance. 

  • Ellen Dillman of Evansville and Alex Rogier of Branchville announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. The ceremony will be March 5, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. at Christ the King Church in Evansville. A reception will follow at 3:30 p.m. at The Bauerhaus in Evansville.

  • Jordan and Chad Peter of Tell City announce the birth of their daughters, Kinlie Grace Peter and Ruby Wilma Peter.

    The twins were delivered on Aug. 25, 2015, at Deaconess Gateway Women’s Hospital. Kinlie weighed 3 pounds and 1 ounce and was 15 1/4 inches long. Ruby weighed 2 pounds and 3 ounces and was 14 ¼ inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Toni and David England and Cindy and David Somers of Portland, Ind.

  • DALE – Purdue Master Gardeners (Dubois-Perry-Spencer Counties) are pleased to announce the January educational program for the public and all Master Gardeners. This is a program of the Purdue Extension Service.  The programs will be held on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. The program will be approximately one hour long. The location will vary depending on the program. The programs are free unless otherwise noted.

  • TELL CITY – Ivy Tech will hold an American Welding Society certification preparation course on Saturdays from Feb. 6 to April 9.

    The class will take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., which includes 30 minutes for lunch, at the Tell City campus.

    The course includes over 80 hours of hands-on welding preparation training in shielded metal arc welding.

  • BRISTOW – The Perry County Soil and Water Conservation District will host its 68th annual meeting Tuesday, Jan. 26, at the Bristow Community Center. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with dinner. A presentation will be given by Dave King, Indiana Department of Agriculture Local Foods Program Manager.

  • ST. MEINRAD – The Rev. Dexter Brewer, judicial vicar and vicar general for the Diocese of Nashville, Tenn., will deliver the annual Black History Lecture at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology.

  • ROCKY POINT – Sun, calm breezes and 56 degree weather made for a perfect December blessing of the sandstone Celtic Cross below Blue Heron Winery at Rocky Point.

    This cross, carved by local Indiana artisan Greg Harris, was sculpted within a single stone native to the hillside, in 23 months and completed in 2007.

    It is believed to be the largest “insitu” Celtic cross in the world. At 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, it was blessed and made holy.

  • PERRY COUNTY – Catholic Charities, in conjunction with the Holiday Helpers United program, is once again sponsoring a winter coat giveaway. 

    Coats for adults and children are currently available at the Catholic Charities office. Call (812) 547-0903 for more information.

    Also, new and good used coats are currently being collected for this year’s supply at Wal-Mart in Tell City, Bower Construction in Tell City or drop off at Catholic Charities. Groups or organizations that would like to conduct a coat drive can contact Catholic Charities.
