  • Courtney McDaniel and Preston Rogers announce the birth of their daughter, Kennedy Shay Rogers. She was born Dec. 6, 2015, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City. She weighed 5 pounds and 7 ounces and was 18 ½ inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Brenda McDaniel of Tell City and Robert McDaniel of Rockport.

    Paternal grandparents are Lisa Richardson of Troy and Thomas Rogers of Panama City, Fla.

  • Cajun dinner at Tell City UMC

     

    TELL CITY – Tell City First United Methodist Church will host a Cajun dinner to celebrate Mardi Gras Tuesday, Feb. 9. They will offer your choice of gumbo or jambalaya with Cajun cornbread, drinks and desserts for $8 or gumbo and jambalaya with sides for $10. Serving starts at 5 p.m. and will end at 7 p.m. Carry-outs are available.

  • Frederick and Thelma (Burton) Carter celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Jan. 26, 2016. Known to the world as “Bud and Toots,” they met at an ice skating party on Deer Creek in Jan. 1941.

    Bud graduated from Tell City High School in 1941 and crossed the ocean in 1944 in a brand new B-17 bomber, named “The Joker.” Bud flew 35 missions as tail gunner out of Foggia, Italy with the 15th Air Force on The Joker. He finished World War 2 military service stateside.

  • TELL CITY – Knights of Columbus Council 1172 of Tell City has earned the distinction of Star Council, one of the organization’s top awards, for the 2014-15 fraternal year. The organization’s headquarters, located in New Haven, Conn., made the announcement.

  • BRANCHILLE – Branchville Correctional Facility will hold its annual Winter Revival Feb. 25 through Feb. 27. Events include live music, guest speakers, personal testimonies, baptisms and communion.

    Kickoff for this event will be Thursday, Feb. 25, from noon to 2:30 p.m.

    Services will be Friday, Feb. 26, at 8 to 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 27, at 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  • FERDINAND – The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand will offer a program, “Jesus’ Journey to Jerusalem in the Gospel of Luke,” on Saturday, Feb. 20, from 9:45 a.m. EST until 3:45 p.m. in the Monastic Dining Room at Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand.

  • Justin and Riraye Zarfos announce the birth of their daughter, Ava Marie Zarfos.

    She was born Nov. 16, 2015, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

    She weighed 9 pounds, 10 ounces and was 21 ¼ inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Ramona and Kenny Elder of Tell City. Paternal grandparent is Randal “Zeke” Zarfos of Oriole. Maternal great-grandmother is Clara Wilgus of Ferdinand.

    Ava was welcomed home by her brother, Gavin, 4.
