  • COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Cadet Third Class Levi Hilgenhold made the superintendent’s list for the fourth consecutive semester this spring at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Superintendent’s list is a combination of dean’s list, commandant’s list and athletic director’s list. In each of the three, a 3.0 must be attained.  He is an astronautical engineering major and currently ranks 8th out of 1,049 cadets in the class of 2017. 

  • The bride-elect is a 2012 graduate of Perry Central and a 2014 graduate of Harrison College with an associate of applied science degree in veterinary technician. She is employed at Princeton Veterinary Hospital.

    Mr. Pond is a 2004 graduate of Wood Memorial. He was in the U.S. Army from 2005–10 and is currently serving in the U.S. Army Reserves and employed at Ameriqual.

  • BRISTOW – United Pentecostal Church in Bristow will host its 62nd annual homecoming Sunday, June 14. The Rev. Michael Flemming of Sessor, Ill., will be the guest speaker.

    The event will also recognize the 22nd pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Clarence Enmen Jr. Sunday school will be held at 9:30 a.m.

  • John and Phyllis Bender of St. Meinrad celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family vacation at the Bearadise Cabin in the hills of Sevierville, Tenn.

    John Bender and the former Phyllis Lasher were united in marriage May 22, 1965, in St. Johns Catholic Church in Perry County, with the late Rev. Ralph Stasshelm officiating the ceremony.

    They are the parents of Melissa Hoffman (Keith) of Santa Claus, Vicki Bolin (Chris) of Tell City, Sara Vaal (Aaron) of St. Meinrad and Andrew Bender (Tonya) of Newburgh.

  • Russell and Juanita Knieriem will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Monday, June 15, 2015. The day will also be Mr. Knieriem’s 80th birthday.

    Mr. Knieriem and the former Juanita Sturgeon were married June 15, 1955, at First United Methodist Church in Tell City.

    The Knieriems are the parents of Danny Knieriem (Paula) of Wilburn, Fla.; Michael Knieriem (Dianne) of Youngs Creek; Jeffrey Knieriem (Melody) of DePauw; Tamara Hubbard of Kennesaw, Ga., and the late Carolyn Sue Knieriem.

  • TELL CITY – This Saturday, the Perry County Public Library “Heroes” reading program will begin. Named “Every Hero Has a Story,” the summer program will include hero-themed activities, movies and special events offered throughout the summer.

  • CANNELTON – Holy Ghost Revival will be in concert at House of Prayer Church beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 6.

    The church is located at 7498 Old State Road 237 in Cannelton.

  • Following graduation, Dr. Ress interned at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville for one year. He then located his office in Tell City Aug. 1, 1961. He has practiced there ever since. Dr. Ress was the only reunion attendee who is still actively practicing medicine.

  • Raphael and Vivian DuPont of Tell City will celebrate their 74th anniversary Sunday, June 7, 2015, with a family dinner.

    Raphael and the former Vivian Howell were married June 7, 1941, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Leopold.

    They are the parents of Douglas DuPont of Sebring, Fla.; Mary Carparelli of Helena, Mont.; Janice Etienne of Leopold and Jim, Mike and Daniel DuPont of Tell City and the late Christopher DuPont. They have 25 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
