  • Knits and Knots meeting June 2

     

    TELL CITY – Would you like to knit or crochet hats and scarves for homeless shelters, veteran hospitals and Head Start children?

    Take your needles or crochet hooks and they’ll supply the yarn.

    The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at Tell City First United Methodist Church.

  • Whitney and Ryan Harris of Evansville announce the birth of their daughter, Averie Lain Harris.

    She was born Aug. 27, 2015, at 5:09 p.m. at St. Mary’s in Evansville. She weighed 7 pounds and 3 ounces and was 20 ½ inches long.

    She was welcomed home by her big sister, Addison, 9.

    Maternal grandparents are Tracy and James Braun of Evansville. Paternal grandparents are Lisa and Jerry Harris of Cannelton. Great-grandparents are Janice and Kenneth Braun and Doris and the late Jack McKim.

    The mother is the former Whitney Braun.

  • TELL CITY – Tell City First Baptist Church invites children to attend vacation Bible school from June 13-17. The theme this year will be “Cave Quest: Following Jesus, the Light of the World!”

    Here, kids will explore what it means to follow Jesus through dark times.

  • Joyce and Cletus James celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family meal.

    They were married at St. Augustine Church in Leopold May 12, 1956.

    The couple has four children, Denny and Doug James, Angela Gayle Howell and Missy Noble.

    They have eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

  • LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Tosha Gilmore, daughter of Marsha and Keith Huck of Tell City and Alan Gilmore of Reo completed Air Force Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base March 4. She then graduated May 5 from technical school at Keesler Air Force Base in Beluxi, Miss.

    She will soon be assigned to Little Rock, Ark., as an aviation resource manager.

  • TELL CITY – Blaze Brumfield, a junior at Tell City High School, has been selected by the United States Air Force Academy to attend its one week summer session for those students who might consider applying for the Academy after graduating from high school. It is a highly competitive assignment. The camp gives a realistic slice of cadet life.  Blaze will live in a cadet dorm, explore majors offered at the Academy and take the Cadet Fitness Assessment. 

    Upon completion of the week, Blaze may opt to submit his application to become his USAFA. 

  • Brandi and Jacob Beaver of Hawesville announce the birth of their daughter Aubrey Leeann Beaver.

    She was born Feb. 11, 2016, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She weighed 6 pounds and 9 ounces and was 18 ¾ inches long.

    Aubrey was welcomed home by her big sister, Carli Alexis, 4.

    Maternal grandparents are Jerry Wentz of Tell City and Trish and Ben Vowels of Evansville. Paternal grandparents are Gerald and Betty Beaver of Hawesville. Aubrey’s great grandmother is Grace Brown of Tell City.

  • Julie and Andy Hoffherr of Boonville announce the birth of their son, Ethan Edward Hoffherr on April 6, 2016. He was delivered at 4:46 p.m. at Deaconess Women’s Hospital. He weighed 4 pounds and 12 ounces and was 17 1/2 inches long. 

    Maternal grandparents are Betty and John Hagedorn of Tell City.

    Paternal grandparents are Carol and Stu Hoffherr of Darmstadt.

    Great-grandparents are the late Bernice and Linus Waninger, the late John and Catherine Hagedorn and Gil and the late Dorothy Kahre.

  • Robyn and Michael Lippelt of Westville announce the birth of their son, Leo Zydrunas Lippelt. He was born March 7, 2016, at Porter Regional Hospital in Valporaiso. He weighed 7 pounds and 12 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Teresa and Randy Rennie of Leopold. Paternal grandparents are Connie and John Lippelt of LaCrosse.

    Great-grandparents are Julie Lippelt of LaCrosse, the late Roland and Elsie Rennie and the late Ralph and Nova Kraus.

    The mother is the former Robyn Rennie.
