  • Wyman and Becky Davis of Tell City will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary June 3.

    They couple was married June 3, 1967, at St. Mark Catholic Church. Mrs. Davis is the former Becky Goffinet.

    They have one child, Tim Davis and three grandchildren, Lauren, Emily and Claire.

    Wyman is retired from being self-employed as a carpenter and painter. Becky is retired from Old National Bank.

  • The future bride and groom, along with their parents, announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of Stephanie Groves and Bryan Taylor, both of Tell City.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Dean and Melissa Groves of Tell City. The future groom is the son of Tom and Debbie McCart and Grant and Gayle Taylor, all of Tell City.

  • TELL CITY – St. Paul Catholic Church will hold Mass Saturday, June 10, at 4 p.m. Dinner, raffle and auction to follow in Parish Hall. There $6,000 in cash to give away, with 12 $500 winners.

  • ST. MARKS – St. Mark Catholic Church will host a Rogation Day Mass and Procession on Tuesday, May 23, at 6:30 p.m. Rogation days are an ancient tradition in which the community comes together to pray for the needs of the church, the community and for local farms and farmers and gardeners during the spring planting. They occur on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before Ascension Thursday.

  • Tiffany Sabelhaus and John Nugent Jr., both of Cannelton, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding May 20.

    The ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Cannelton. A reception will immediately follow at the Schergens Center in Tell City.

    The bride-to-be’s parents are David and Diana Sabelhaus of Bristow. The future groom’s parents are John Nugent Sr. of Cannelton and the late Shirley Nugent.

  • FERDINAND – The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, will hold their 150th anniversary summer social on Friday and Saturday, June 2 and 3, on the grounds of Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, Indiana.

    Social hours will be from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.

    PERRY COUNTY – Perry County native Callie Poehlein has seen success as an art student, evolving in her creativity like one of her award-winning pieces.

    She wasn’t always set on art for a career path. In high school, she was set on going into a science field, but upon taking a class as a senior, art became her pursuit. “I realized I was pretty good at it,” she said.

    She is now majoring in studio art with a 2-dimensional emphasis.
