  • Deer Creek fall festival Sunday


    ST. MARKS – Deer Creek Baptist Church will hold a fall festival on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 6 p.m. All are invited to join in the festivities.


    Book signing set for Nov. 7


    TELL CITY – The Villas at 1101 23rd St. will be hosting a meet the authors and book-signing event Nov. 6 from 1 to 3 for two local authors, C.S. Areson and Jim Adkins.

  • Sharla and Jim Adams celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Aug. 30, 2015, with a celebration among family and close friends.

    Sharla and Jim were married at Lincoln Boyhood Chapel on Aug. 30, 1975.

    They have two children, Jayme (Matt) Goforth and Seth (Jessica) Adams and six grandchildren, Kaden, Kennedy, Matthew, Harper, Korynne and Georgia Grace.

  • The LaGrange family reunion was held Aug. 29, at St. Isidore Catholic Church parish hall. A pitch-in meal was enjoyed by those attending, who are descendants of Louis and Sally LaGrange.

    A memory table was set up. Children enjoyed the bounce house. A half-pot drawing was won by Jenny LaGrange. Awards were presented to the oldest attendee, Dorothy Mae LaGrange, the youngest, Anna Jean Schnell, the longest married, Ovalee and Dorothy LaGrange, the closest to 21 years of age, Ryan LaGrange and to the furthest traveled, Connie LaGrange Mukherjee of Oxnard, Calif.

  • Christine (Hasenour) and Danny Kleaving announce the birth of their son, Quinton Leo Kleaving. He was delivered at Memorial Hospital in Jasper at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 9, 2015. He weighed 7 pounds and 11 ounces and was 20 inches long. He was welcomed home by his brother, Preston, 2.

    Maternal grandparents are Diane and Kenny Hasenour of Schnellville. Paternal grandparents are Margie and Gilbert Kleaving of Tell City. Great-grandparents are Georgina and Melvin Sermersheim.

  • Canned food drive planned at TC United Methodist


    TELL CITY – During the months of October and November, Tell City First United Methodist Church will build a wall of canned goods in its main hallway for local food pantries, which runs in conjunction with Pastor Sam’s sermon series.

    In October, organizers will collect yellow and orange cans and in November they will collect red and brown cans.

    All non-perishable items and monetary donations are also welcomed.

  • Terry Severson, Forest Fire Management Officer with the Hoosier National Forest, is generally pretty calm and quiet. But a few topics will get him talking: family – his wife, Trina and daughters, Emma and Amani – managing resources with fire and Africa. 

  • KING’S BAY, Ga. – Larry Dunning earned chief petty officer in just nine years of service in the United States Navy. He currently serves aboard the USS West Virginia.

    He, his wife, Jennifer, and their three children Melissa, Emily and James  reside in King’s Bay, Ga.

    His parents are Mary and Larry Dunning of Mount Pleasant and his grandparents are Eva and the late Franklin Delano Knable of Tell City.
