  • Chelsie Dobberstein and Zachary Rogier were married March 25, 2017, at 2:30 p.m., at Goeglein’s Homestead in Fort Wayne.
    The ceremony was officiated by Amy H.
    The bride was given in marriage by her parents.
    The Matron of honor was Jessica Miller, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Ellen Rogier, sister-in-law of the groom, of Evansville; Amber Chappell, friend of the bride, of Auburn; Kayla Smith, friend of the bride, of Auburn, Aubrey Graham, friend of the bride, of Fort Wayne; and Lindsey Rogier, sister of the groom, of Evansville.

  • Cornelius (Corneil) and Mildred (Sandi) Fest of Mariah Hill will celebrate their 50th anniversary July 1. A celebration dinner and breakfast for invited guests will be held at the French Lick Resort West Baden July 1.
    Cornelius and Mildred (Vaeth) were married in St. Meinrad Catholic Church on July 1, 1967. Father Richard Hindel officiated.

  • Kenny and Joann Waninger of Fulda celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary May 27, with a surprise party given by their children. Mr. and Mrs. Waninger were married June 1, 1957, at St. Meinrad Archabbey Church in St. Meinrad.

    They have seven children, Tony (Sandy) Waninger of Fulda, Becky (John) Wesner of Fulda, Tim Waninger of Owensboro, Ky., Jeff (Becky) Waninger, Jackie (Neil) Deom, Mike (Donna) Waninger and Tammy (Troy) Smith, all of Fulda. They have 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

  • TELL CITY – Mr. and Mrs. Joe Scarboro of Tell City celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary with family and friends Saturday, June 10, at the Tell City Moose Lodge.

    Mr. Scarboro and the former Marlene Sutcliffe were married June 10, 1972, at Lilly Dale Church of Christ.

    They have two children, John Scarboro of Tell City and Cathy (Matt) Board of Leopold.

    They have six grandchildren, Katelin, Kaylee and Ashley Scarboro, Tyler and Dylan Watson and Myles Board.

    TELL CITY – Perry County native Carly Jarboe has developed an original style of painting, inspired by her family.

    Jarboe attends Indiana University Southeast in New Albany. She has been accepted into the bachelor of fine arts program, in which she will major in painting and minor in ceramics. She was awarded the Martha Stem Fine Arts Scholarship, worth $3,000, after only one year at the school.

  • COLUMBUS – Fr. Martin Peter, better known as Father Marty and a native of Tell City, is celebrating his Golden Jubilee as a priest. He was ordained at St. Meinrad Archabbey on May 7, 1967 and celebrated his first Mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Tell City. He is the son of Lawrence J. Peter and Dorothy Fournier Peter.

    Small churches have come under attack recently. The reasons for those attacks are many. Perhaps some are valid. It’s not my intention to promote or argue those points in this article. As the pastor of a small church, which averages 65 in weekly attendance, I see many benefits of a small congregation.

  • TELL CITY – Evangelical United Church of Christ, Tell City United Methodist Church and St. Paul Catholic Church have scheduled a cooperative vacation Bible school for the week of June 26-29. Four-, 5- and 6-year- olds who have completed kindergarten will attend VBS at the United Methodist Church on 10th and Mozart streets from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. while those students who have completed Grades 1-4 will attend at St. Paul Catholic Church on Main and Jefferson streets from 9 to 11:30 a.m. with crafts, games, and snack centers stationed at EUCC during mid mornings.

  • Earl and Martha Miller, of Tell City, celebrated their 50th anniversary June 3. They were married June 3, 1967, at St. Meinrad Catholic Church in St. Meinrad. They have two sons, Pat (Carlene), of Greeley, Colo., and Frank (Christie) Miller of Philpot, Ky., and one grandchild, Cecila, 11.
