  • Randy and Rachel Roccia are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Lynn Roccia, 28, of Peru, to Jeffrey Wayne McBride, 28, the son of Jerry and Linda McBride of Yorktown. Sarah is a graduate of Tell City High School, and graduated magna cum laude from Indiana State University. She is currently in her fifth year as the band-choir director at North Miami Community Schools in Denver, Indiana.

  • Lutheran bazaar Saturday

     

    EVANSTON – The annual Christmas Bazaar at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Evanston, located one-half mile west of New Boston, is scheduled for Saturday Dec. 2, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    Homemade candy, apple dumplings, cheeseballs, and turnip slaw will be available, as well as baked goods, including springerles. From 6 to 9 a.m., breakfast will be served. Lunch will be served from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

  • Kara Michelle McClintic and Trent William Gunn announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The future bride is the daughter of Mike McClintic of Brownsville, Ky., and Kim McClintic of Tell City.

    She is a graduate of Tell City High School and earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Southern Indiana.  She is currently employed at Ohio Valley Gas Corp. in Tell City.

  • ST. MEINRAD – The public is welcome to join the Benedictine monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey as they celebrate Christmas in the Archabbey Church. All times are Central.

    On Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24, vigils will begin at 7 p.m. and Mass will be celebrated at 10 p.m.

    The Mass of Christmas Day will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 25.

  • Christmas can be a painful time for some. It may be the first Christmas without a loved family member who has recently passed or it may be a time that has always been difficult.

  • Doug and Jean Galey of St. Croix celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 14, 2017, at the Derby Community Center with a dinner among friends and family. The couple was married at Branchville Methodist Church Oct. 14, 1967.

    They have three children, Richard Galey of Georgetown, Keith (Jackie) Galey of Evansville and David (April) Galey of St. Croix; and four grandchildren, Sidney, Jackson, Shelby and Vivian Galey.

    Jean’s siblings include James Knieriem, Faye Evrard, Donnie Knieriem and Joyce Tooke. Doug had a sister, the late Lavaughn Sprinkle.

  • SANTA CLAUS – GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays is a helpful, encouraging seminar for people facing the holidays after a loved one’s death. Please join us on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m. CST, or Sunday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at Santa Claus United Methodist Church.

    The seminar features video interviews with counselors, grief experts, and other people who have experienced the holidays after their loved one’s death and who offer practical suggestions and reassurance. These people share honestly about:

  • ST. MEINRAD – Abbey Caskets, a work of Saint Meinrad Archabbey, will host a Service of the Longest Night on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 6 p.m. in the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Guest House Chapel.

    Many people find the holidays a challenging time. Instead of celebrating, they are struggling with grief. They miss loved ones and find that the usual traditions and bright lights serve only to heighten their struggle.

    Fr. Adrian Burke, OSB, will lead the service with prayer and Scripture that acknowledge those who mourn and struggle with loss during the Christmas season.

  • Jack and Tara Briggeman of Columbus, Ohio, announce the birth of a son, Carson Wayne Briggeman, on June 5, 2017. He was born at Ohio State University Hospital, weighing 7 pounds 10 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.

    Grandparents are Bill and Vicki Gebhard and Harry and Kim Hawkins, all of Tell City. Great grandparents are Charles “Junie” and Geraldine “Gerry” George of Tell City and the late Chester and Helen Gebhard, the late Glenward “Jack” and Maureen Briggeman and the late James and Delores Hawkins.
