  • PERRY COUNTY – Mary Roberson has been named as the recipient of a mini-grant from Alpha Epsilon State of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Delta Kappa Gamma is a part of the International Society of Key Women Educators.
    Roberson is the superintendent of Perry Central schools in Leopold. She is an active member of the Alpha Phi Chapter.
    She said she will use her $500 mini-grant to purchase an iPad that she will use in classroom walk-throughs and follow-up communication with teachers.

  • TELL CITY – Ariel Etienne of Tell City was recently named as one of 57 finalists for the prestigious Indiana University Wells Scholarship.

  • TELL CITY – The Tell City Regional Arts Association is in the process of creating an artist guild.
    To become a member of the guild, an artist must submit to a three-person panel five pieces in the field in which they wish to exhibit.
    Artists that are certified Indiana Artisan or Kentucky Crafted member will automatically be admitted to the artist guild at the Featured Artist Level.
    The artist guild levels are categorized below. Items followed by asterisks denote fields required for that level.

  • TELL CITY – A benefit for Kathy Tsantis is planned for Jan. 15 at the Tell City Knights of Columbus.
    Food will be available at 6 p.m. with an open cash bar. Music will be provided by Bob and Tom from 9 p.m. to midnight.
    A live auction is planned with Hawhee’s Auction Service on hand to sell items. Proceeds will go toward Tsantis’ medical bills.
    She is a retired Tell City Police Department dispatcher.
    Tickets are $15 per couple or $10 for singles.

  • Kelli Sue Harding and Brad Mace of Lebanon were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon.

    The bride is the daughter of Dan and Pam Harding of Derby. Mr. Mace is the son of Randy and Linda Mace of Lebanon.
    The bride was given away in marriage by her father in marriage during the ceremony officiated by the Rev. Tim Kroeger.
    Cheri Harding Harpenau of Boonville and Vicki Harding Queck of Indianapolis, sisters of the bride, were chosen as matrons of honor.

  • TROY – Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University class will be available beginning Jan. 18. The course will be a 13-week program designed to teach individuals and families how to take control of their finances and become debt free. Every possible spending and saving situation will be addressed in the program.

  • TELL CITY – The members of Tell Street Baptist Church received a new pastor, Sam Huff, for Christmas. James Jackson had been serving as interim pastor for more than a year when the church found Pastor Huff.

  • PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Chamber of Commerce is in the process of establishing the 2011 Perry County Community Calendar.
    The chamber is asking all organizations for dates of events that are planned for the 2011 calendar year. Printed calendars will be available in area bank lobbies and the events will also appear on the Chamber’s Web site www. perrycountychamber.com.
