  • PERRY COUNTY – The state organization of Tri Kappa will award a variety of scholarships to college students throughout Indiana in the spring.
    Each state scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1000. Tri Kappa has provided scholarship awards since 1914 acknowledging students on the local, province and state levels. Chapters, provinces and the state organization combined, currently give nearly $500,000 annually honoring academic achievement.

  • Dance scheduled at the Sportsman Friday
    FULDA – The Fulda Sportsman Club will host a New Year’s Eve dine and dance Friday.
    Doors will open at 6 p.m. with a meal served at 6:30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Final Tour from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
    Cost is $15 per person. Proceeds will be used for upkeep and maintenance of the club. Tickets are available by calling (812) 357-5202.

  • BIRDSEYE – Experience the wonderful world of eagles with indoor and outdoor programs at Patoka Lake Visitor Center Saturday, Jan. 8.
    The morning session will be presented from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and an afternoon repeat session will be from noon to 3 p.m. EST.
    The event will feature a resident bald eagle and other raptors, including a great horned owl. Guest presenter Leslie Grow, Department of Natural Resources Hardy Lake interpretive naturalist, will share the story of these animals, their habits and habitat.

  • PERRY COUNTY - The Perry County Chamber of Commerce along with participating businesses announce this year’s Christmas Cash Giveaway winners. To win, shoppers must have registered at one of the participating merchants before Dec. 23. The promotion was intended to encourage local shopping over the holiday season and give local residents some extra shopping money compliments of local businesses. The total cash given away this year was more than $1,000. There was a winner from each participating location each week.

  • TELL CITY – Local volunteer Earla Williams was recognized for her hours of service to the community Dec. 12.
    Williams will be recognized for numerous activities through Modern’ Woodmen’s Hometown Heroes Program.

  • Katie Jarboe and Ryan Gelarden were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony held Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Leopold.
    The bride is the daughter of Michael and Kathy Jarboe of Derby. Mr. Gelarden is the son of John Gelarden of Tell City and Patty Nantz of Evansville.
    The bride was given away in marriage by her father in the double-ring ceremony officiated by Father Aaron Pfaff.

  • Shana Ludwig and Matt Williams of Mount Pleasant announce their engagement and approaching marriage.
    The bride-elect is the daughter of Jerry and Renita Ludwig of Orleans.
    She is a 2004 graduate of Orleans Junior-Senior High School and a 2007 graduate of Vincennes University with degrees in accounting and business administration.
    She works as a workforce analyst at Accent Marketing in Tell City.
    Mr. Williams is the son of Brian and Jeannie Williams of Mount Pleasant.
