  • Samantha Pedone and Travis Schaefer of Indianapolis were united in marriage during a ceremony held Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at Ross-Ade Pavilion on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette.

    The bride is the daughter of Gerry and Pat Pedone of Kokomo. Mr. Schaefer is the son of Al and Vickie Schaefer of Tell City.
    The bride was given away by her father in the double-ring ceremony officiated by Pastor Matthew Skiles.

  • George and Rose Parr Jr. of Tell City will celebrate their 50-year wedding anniversary Feb. 10, 2011.

    A celebration held in their honor will be hosted by their children at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5 at Deer Creek Baptist Church in Tell City.
    Mr. Parr married the former Rose Smith Feb. 10, 1961, in Shawnee Town, Ill.

  • ROME – The Southern Indiana Squirrel Club of Bristow will hold a shooting match Sunday, Jan. 30 at the club.
    An open match will start at 11 a.m. with the closed match set for 2 p.m. This will be a money match shoot.
    Proceeds will be donated to the old Perry County Courthouse in Rome for cost of repairs to the building.
    Concessions will also be available.

    Beta Sigma Phi to meet today
    TELL CITY – Mu Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at 6 p.m. today at the Schergans Center in Tell City.
    Hostesses will be Pam Kreig, Mary Snyder and Kim Zellers.

  • INDIANAPOLIS – State Senator Richard D. Young, Jr. (D-Milltown) has announced that the 2011 legislative survey for Senate District 47 is now available online at www.IN.gov/s47. Young is seeking input from his constituents on a variety of issues that are anticipated to come before the 2011 General Assembly.
    Included in the survey are questions on spending priorities for the state budget, retail sale of alcohol on Sundays and banning smoking in public places. Constituents are asked to complete the online survey by Jan. 31.

  • TELL CITY – To celebrate American Heart Month in February, Perry County Memorial Hospital will offer an American Heart Association CPR class, “Family and Friends,” that will be free to the community.
    Adult, child and infant CPR and choking rescue skills will be demonstrated and practiced during these sessions. No testing will be required.
    This class is for anyone 10 years and older, who desires to learn CPR skills and does not need a certification card.

  • CANNELTON – Cannelton High School will crown its 2011 Homecoming royalty during a ceremony Friday between the junior varsity and varsity games, at approximately 7:15 p.m.

    Queen candidates
    Jennifer Dartt is the daughter of Rebecca Wilson and David Dartt. She has been a member of Directions, chorus and art clubs for four years, Spanish club for three years and student council and National Honor Society for two years.
    Dartt plans to attend the University of Southern Indiana and major in English and minor in theater.
