  • House of Prayer revival through April 10
    TELL CITY – The House of Prayer Church will hold a revival Monday through April 10 at the church in Tell City.
    Evangelist Dewayne Swanagan will be the guest speaker. Services will begin at 7 p.m. each night of the revival.
    Pastor David Nix welcomes everyone to attend. For more information, call 719-6473.
    The church is located on Old Highway 237, close to the former Tell City Junior High School building in Tell City.

  • St. Michael to host Lent fish fry
    CANNELTON – St. Michael Catholic Church in Cannelton is serving fish dinners during the six Fridays of Lent.
    There will be no dinners served Good Friday, April 22.
    Meal service begins at 4:30 p.m. and serving lasts until 7 p.m. each Friday.
    The meal includes fried fish or cheese pizza, baked beans, slaw, cornbread, des-sert and drink.
    The price is $7 for adults and $5 for children, 6 years of age and under.

  • TELL CITY – “Messiah in the Passover,” a vivid and exciting demonstration showing how Jesus fulfilled the ancient feast of Passover, will be performed April 13, at 7 p.m. at Berean Baptist Church at 1309 13th St., Tell City.

  • Liam Horatio Dartt
    Robin Dartt announces the birth of her son, Liam Horatio Dartt, Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.
    The infant weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces and was 18 and one-half inches long.
    Liam has two older sisters, Hannah Hammond, 6 and Lesley Hammond, 17.
    Grandparents are Judy Dartt of Tell City, Margaret Hammond of Evansville and the late David D. Dartt and Frank Hammond.

  • Danny and Tammy Medcalf of Dale will celebrate their 30-year wedding anniversary Monday.

    Mr. Medcalf married Tammy Simpson April 4, 1981, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City.
    The couple have three children, Mathew Medcalf of Dale, Jennifer Medcalf of Columbus, Ohio, and Sean Medcalf of Terre Haute.
    Mr. Medcalf is the owner of M & M Concrete and Mrs. Medcalf is cafeteria manager at Tecumseh Junior-Senior High School.
    The couple recently celebrated their anniversary by taking their family on a trip to the West.
     

  • TELL CITY – The Catholic churches of St. Michael in Cannelton, St. Paul in Tell City and St. Pius in Troy will offer a parish mission at St. Paul Church starting today and ending Wednesday.
    Activities each night will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
    Mission Week will be conducted by Archabbot Justin DuVall OSB of St. Meinrad Archabbey. Free child-care services will be available on all evenings in the St. Paul Catholic Ministry Center. For more information, call 547-7994 or 547-7102. The public is invited.

  • First-grade Tiger Scouts from Perry Central Pack 191 toured The News Feb. 28 and learned how the twice-weekly newspaper is published. They toured the news, graphics and camera departments and visited the pressroom and mail department. Taking the tour were, from left, Avery Taylor, Josh Rogier, Bryce Halford, Ethan Halford and Connor Mullis.
     

  • Hunter Sandage, pictured with his flight instructor, Brock Wagner, recently had his first flight lesson at the Huntingburg airport in a Cessna 172.

    Sandage, 15, is planning a solo flight on his 16th birthday, July 16. He said he is very interested in pursuing a flying career with the Air Force or Navy. He is active in soccer, swimming, track and bicycling. He is a member of the student council, math and science bowl academic teams at Tell City and a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ. Sandage is the son of Scot and Gina Sandage of Tell City.
