  • TELL CITY – The Knights of Columbus will hold a Memorial Mass at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City. The Mass will be held in remembrance of all deceased Knights of Columbus members, especially those who have passed away since the last Memorial Mass. Everyone is welcome to attend.

  • LAMAR – St. John’s United Church of Christ in 
Lamar will host its annual Thanksgiving supper at 4 p.m. Saturday, 
Nov. 22. The menu will include ham and turkey, 
St. John’s “famous” dressing, fall vegetables, salad
 and home-baked desserts
 Carry out will be available.

  • TROY – Troy First Christian Church will present its annual Gospel Thanksgiving in Song. The public and all churches and denominations are most welcome.

    The program will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, in the Tell City Junior Senior High School auditorium.

    Doors will open at 4 p.m. Special guests include Jeremy Calloway, Hoosier Harmony, Ryan Seaton and Conquerors Quartet.

  • TELL CITY – Kyle Boyer-Hanks a 2014 graduate of Tell City Junior-Senior High School, graduated Oct. 10, from Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill., after eight weeks of training as a seaman apprentice.

    He is currently apprenticing to become an operations specialist and will be sent to the fleet upon completion of the 10-week program.

    Boyer-Hanks is the son of Kenneth and Anissa Hanks of Tell City and is the fiancé of Samantha Burton.

  • PERRY COUNTY – Air Force Airman 1st Class Jonathan P. Flamion recently graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas.

    Flamion completed an intensive, eight-week program including training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

    Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an Associate in Applied Science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

  • Marie Materson and Logan Montgomery of Tell City announce the birth of their daughter, Elsa Dawn, who was delivered at 8:10 a.m. Oct. 1 at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

    She weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Paul and Judy Masterson of Chrisney.

    Paternal grandparents are Larry and Della Montgomery of Tell City.

    Maternal great grandparents are Viola and the late John Masterson of Chrisney and the late Warden and Glenda Jackson of Rockport.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hinton of Tell City announce the birth of their daughter, Adalynn Lee. She was delivered Sept. 16, 2014, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

    Adalynn weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    She has a brother, Wyatt, 4.

    Mrs. Hinton is the former Sara Hess.

    Paternal grandparents are Chuck and Lisa Hinton of Cannelton.

    Maternal grandparents are Rick and Rhonda Hess of Tell City.

  • Wes and Jayme Deom of Tell City celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary by attending a ballgame at the Great American Ball Park stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio. The ballpark was a stop on the couple’s honeymoon.

    Wes and the former Jayme Poehlein were married in June 2004, in Tennessee. They have three children, Avery, 9; Easton, 3, and Archer, 1.

    Wes has been employed at Webb Wheel for more than seven years. Jayme is a licensed practical nurse by profession and currently is a stay-at-home mom.

  • Charles and Mary Alice Ruxer will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary at a 10:30 a.m. Thanksgiving Day Mass offered by the Rev. Anthony Vinson in the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Guest House Chapel.

    Charles Ruxer and the former Mary Alice Ringeman were married Nov. 11, 1944, in the Saint Meinrad Abbey church. Attendants were Othmar Ringeman, Lee Edgar Ruxer, Angela Ruxer Volz and Thelma Scott Copeland.

    Mr. and Mrs. Ruxer are the parents of Terry Ruxer, Karen Ruxer Springston and Mark Ruxer. They have nine grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
